MEET LEXI “I was not always so positive about my size being 5’11 and bigger boned I always stood out...Not until recently did I realize that I was beautiful in my own skin...I want to try and relay the message to all women that YOUR size is beautiful! I just want women to own it!” > Age: 22 > Size: 12-14 > Height: 5’11 > Shoes: 11 > Year started modeling: I have been modeling for 3 years now. > Most major campaign landed: The most exciting thing I have gotten the chance to be a part of was the Plus Model Magazine Swim Suit edition. I got a five page spread and got to work with some amazing people Reah Norman who styled me and Inez Lewis who took the amazing photos. > Dream client: I have many dream client, obviously being a Plus size model I would love to work with Lane Bryant...But I also dream of being able to represent plus size women in Sports Illustrated, curves are just as sexy!! > Goals: My goals consist of many things, being happy, healthy, in love, successful...But when it comes to my modeling carreer, of course I want to work...but I want to be a inspiration for women to OWN IT! If putting me in a magazine or me taking a picture in my bra and panties is gong to help women be comfortable with there bodies then I have accomplished an amazing goal. I also want to be honest with everyone out there in letting them know that EVERYONE has there bad days including me, i dont have flawless thighs or perfect celulite free arms, I get insecure about my body sometimes too, but it does not stop me from doing what I love and wanting to inspire girls all over!

how to look flawless

Lets get real ladies, we don’t all wake up looking like ‘Sleeping Beauty’. We need a little help to give us flawless skin (at least I

do) and it’s so important to find a great foundation.

Sometimes that means trying 5 different brands/ colors/blends before you find that perfect match, but when you do, you never stray. Now, with that said it’s equally important to find a great primer to keep your foundation in place and keep you looking fresh all day long. Not to mention that if it’s summertime and no one...I repeat NO one wants to be dripping makeup all over the place! It’s just not sexy! There are so many different primers out there and it can be quite overwhelming to choose...but don’t worry, I am here to guide you every perfectly poreless step of the way! PRIMERS #1 NARS Pro-Prime™ Multi-Protect Primer SPF 30 Sunscreen (for normal/moderately oily skin) The 411: This primer not only smells divine but it leaves you with a more even-toned complexion after using it. It also has SPF 30 and antioxidant properties that nourish and protect your skin. I have noticed that when I use this primer, my makeup applies more evenly and I don’t get those annoying creases under my eyes or around my nose. You can expect to be ready

for your closeup for about 12 hours with this primer! #2 Smashbox Photo Finish Foundation Primer (dry skin) The 411: This is a great primer if your skin is on the dry side. It also helps your makeup application go more smoothly and helps fill in fine lines and even out skin texture. I would NOT use this primer if you have the slightest bit of oil in your skin because your makeup will not stay on as well as one that’s for skin on the dryer side. You can expect to be red carpet ready for about 8 hours with this primer! #3 Makeup Forever HD Microperfecting Primer (normal skin) The 411: This is a fantastic primer for people that have a multitude of skin issues. Not only is great for the normal uses of primer, like softening skin, smoothing the skin for a great and long lasting wear, but it comes with six colorcorrecting shades and one transparent shade! It’s totally exclusive to Sephora as well, so you won’t find it anywhere else. It is guaranteed to help you get a perfect match every time. You can expect to be strutting the catwalk for 8 hours with this primer! Now..for you ladies that might not need the coverage of a foundation, but still want to look amazing for your trip to the beach, or a casual stroll in this blistering heat, I got you covered too! No..literally! Tinted Moisturizers are a great way to give you coverage, without the feeling of having “cake face”. Here are my picks for the best tinted moisturizers for summer and all year around!

TINTED MOISTURIZERS #1 Becca Luminous Skin Colour $42 Why it’s fab: This tinted moisturizer is not only flattering for a variety of skin tones, but it gives you a glowy, dewy look instead of a matte one. It also stays on day and night with no smearing! With its reasonable price tag, it will not only make your face happy, but your wallet too! #2 Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer $42 Why it’s fab: I have to say I’m a fan of Laura Mercier foundation and I use it religiously, but I was a bit hesitant to try their tinted moisturizer only because they aren’t known for great skin care..but I was wrong! The squeeze tube packaging is easy to use and allows you to get your moneys worth! It has great sun protection, as well as light coverage and of course it moisturizes. It leaves you with the illusion of natural, perfect skin. # 3 Boots No7 Soft and Sheer Tinted Moisturizer $8.99 Why it’s fab: If you have oily or problem skin, look no further! This tinted moisturizer will leave you looking fresh without that greasy feeling. It does a great job of concealing any blemishes you might have and for under $10, you will have a hard time beating this bargain! Now, you have no excuse to NOT throw on that perfect summer dress and hit the beach or boardwalk with your best accessory...your flawless skin!! love and cupcakes, Tess

Christina Hendricks by tess munster

Who doesn’t love Mad Men? Better yet, who doesn’t love Christina Hendrick’s style, curves

and wit on and off screen? I think that her best accessory is her ever flawless porcelain skin. But how does she keep it so youthful and fresh? What are her spring/summer essentials? The ‘Mad Men’ star is in love with “feminine floral, lace dresses, coral lipstick and sun block.” for summer time. Meow!! Tell me more? I thought you would never ask! Christina swears by Crème de la Mer ($130 for 1 oz), Dermalogica sunscreen ($44) and no doubt

SKORCH SEP 2011 PG36

those are great products, they aren’t exactly friendly to all pocketbooks. However, Neutrogena Healthy Skin® Radiance Cream SPF 15 ($8) is and I personally use this when I’m in a beauty pinch and need something great that doesn’t make me cry when I’m handing my credit card over. It’s great for all skin types and actually improves your skin so that hopefully one day you too, can look as good as ‘Joan’. Now, with all this talk about how flawless Christina is, even gorgeous ladies like her have blemishes and when she does, she turns to Benefit’s Erase Paste in Fair ($26). This concealer does what it says and it’s not too heavy either. Although, I would only use this for heavy duty cover up jobs. If you are looking for something with lighter coverage that still helps you achieve her trademark dewy complexion, try Too Faced Absolutely Flawless in Vanilla ($20). Complete your voyage to puurrfect skin with Tarina Tarantino’s Dollskin Powder in #2 ($32). Pair with some simple black liner and mascara and your look is nearly complete! Now, on to the lips... Like Christina, I too love coral lipsticks and think that they look great on every skin color, especially fair skin like our’s. With so many different options to choose from, I made it easy for you ladies and narrowed it down to my

#3 CORAL PICK FOR SUMMER Yves Saint Laurent ‘Rouge Volupté Perle’ Lipstick in Coral Sun $34 Nordstrom

> #2 M•A•C Amplified Creme Lipstick in Morange – My top pick for coral’s, Morange screams summer time glam. While it is more pigmented than the other two picks, the orange hues pair perfectly with any skin color. It’s an ultra-creamy, shiny lipstick that delivers rich color and is not only fantastic for summer, but fall too. You are sure to be the hottest secretary in town. $14.50, MAC #3 Yves Saint Laurent ‘Rouge Volupté Perle’ Lipstick in Coral Sun – This lipstick is ultra-smooth and delivers high volume color and shine. It also has a nice pearly shimmer and isn’t so high impact that you will blind your friends, but will leave you feeling ‘Sterling Cooper’ ready. $34.00, Nordstrom Now, don’t you feel like you are ready to dye your hair red and take a stroll back to the 60’s in style? I know I am!

The B-Styles Curvy Girl of the Day: “Tiffany Bank of the New Plus-Size Fashion Reality Show, “Big Sexy” Today’s “Curvy Girl of the Day” spotlight goes to none other than Ms. Tiffany Bank. Tiffany will be one of the new cast members of TLC’s new plus-size fashion reality show called, “Big Sexy”, airing on August 30th. I first blogged on this new venture last week, and today I have an exclusive Q & A with Tiffany. I first met Tiffany in 2009 here in Richmond when she came down to do the “Tropical Divas” fashion show. We have since run into each other at different events in New York from time to time and she is always a pleasure to be around. (Not to mention the fact that my son was a major flirt with Tiffany one time when they met, lol). I know if you follow me on twitter and facebook that I have been constantly talking about the “Big Sexy” premiere but I’m just so excited for this project. I hope that it has a really

positive outcome and that each one of my readers will support. Now on to a little more about Ms. Tiffany. Tiffany Bank is a plus-size model, actress, host and writer/producer. She has modeled for brand names such as Liz Claiborne, Elie Tahari, and DKNY. Tiffany has walked the catwalk for designers including Monif C., Ashely Stewart, Abby Z. and Lane Bryant and department stores such as Macy’s, Nordstrom and Bloomingdales. Tiffany has appeared in Obvious Magazine, Manik Magazine, Igigi.com, All You Magazine, Newsweek.com, TV Guide, NY Daily News Entertainment Section, WE Television, The Tyra Banks Show, and Sex and the City 2. She is currently a regular contributing writer for PLUS Model Magazine and is pursuing acting and hosting. Check Tiffany out on the new TLC series, “BIG SEXY”, airing Aug. 30th at 10pm.

Q & A with Tiffany Bank “What was your experience like working on Sex and the City 2? It was such an amazing experience to be on set with the whole cast of Sex and the City 2. Getting to chat with all the girls was mind blowing to me and I never thought in a million years I would be working on set with actors that I grew up watching. It was inspiring and surreal! You are also a contributing writer for “Plus Model Magazine”, how do you juggle acting, modeling and writing? I’m honored that I get to be apart of such a great team at PLUS Model Magazine and Maddy, my editor, is an inspiration to me so it’s awesome. As far as juggling all three, well, there just isn’t enough hours in the day. *laughs* I love what I do and I love learning. I try to make time for everything and invest wisely but I admit it gets challenging at times. But, I’m having fun so I welcome the challenge How were you chosen to be a part of the new show, “Big Sexy”?

the negative feedback because it’s expected and I think that maybe if those people take a chance on us they may be pleasantly surprised. What do you hope for other curvy women across the world to be able to take from the show? The girls and I had reoccurring discussions about how important this was for us to represent curvy women in a positive light so I hope that at least one woman feels inspired to liberate herself and do what makes her happy. Do you have any advice for aspiring curvy models on how to get signed with an agency such as Click who you are represented through? Do your homework, be prepared, invest wisely and never give up. I realized that things *never* come easy or quickly and you just have to have a lot of patience. And, oh, remember to have fun! Do you have any other upcoming projects that you are working on?

I auditioned for them and they kept asking me back for interviews and ta-daaaaa! Here I am! *laughs*

I have an editorial coming out and a few other things that I will announce on my website and fan page very soon Thank you SO much for your love and support!!!

Do you feel you will get any negative flack from doing a plus-size reality show? if so, how do you handle naysayers?
