DEUTSCHE QUALITÄT MIT TRADITION Die Geschichte des Unternehmens begann 1921 als der Sunderaner Karl Scheffer-Klute mit der Fertigung von Gardinenstangen startete. Nachdem die Geschäfte an seinen Schwiegersohn Wilhelm Blome übergegangen waren, übernahm dieser im Jahr 1932 die ortsansässige Luftpumpenfabrik und stieg in die Fertigung von Metallpumpen ein. Im ausgebauten Produktionsgebäude an der Hubertushalle, in dem sich heute das SKSKommunikationszentrum »ORANGE WORLD« befindet, ging schnell das erste Erfolgsmodell in Serie. Der entscheidende Durchbruch wurde in den 50er Jahren mit dem Beginn der Fertigung von Luftpumpen aus Kunststoff vollzogen; im Jahr 1959 trat Sohn Wilhelm Blome jun. in das Familien-Unternehmen ein. 1983 wurden mit dem Einstieg in die Produktion von Radschützern erneut die Weichen für weiteres Wachstum gestellt. Anfang der 90er Jahre lieferte SKS schließlich als Marktführer in der Fahrrad-Erstausrüstung in bis zu 90 Länder weltweit und bis heute ist das Unternehmen einer der führenden Hersteller von Qualitätszubehör in der internationalen Radsport-Branche. Seit den 90er Jahren prägen Willo Blome in 4. Generation und sein Geschäftspartner Michael Beste als Geschäftsführer das Unternehmen.

GERMAN QUALITY WITH TRADITION The history of our company began in 1921 when, Karl Scheffer-Klute, from the village of Sundern Germany began manufacturing curtain rods. The company was later taken over by his son-in-law, Wilhelm Blome who acquired a bicycle tyre inflator company in the same village in 1932 and began manufacturing metal pumps.

The first model was very successful and Wilhelm quickly began mass production at the restored production site in the Hubertushalle, where the SKS Communication Centre »ORANGE WORLD« is located today. The decisive breakthrough came in the 1950’s when the manufacture of bicycle tyre inflators made of plastic was implemented. In 1959, his son, Wilhelm Blome Jr., joined the family business. The stage was set for further growth in 1983 with beginning production of mudguards. By the 1990’s, SKS was delivering original bicycle parts to 90 countries worldwide as the market leader, and even today, SKS is one of the leading manufacturers of quality accessories for the international competitive cycling segment. Willo Blome, fourth generation of the family, and his business partner Michael Beste have made their mark as CEOs of the company.

INNOVATIONSKRAFT MIT KNOW HOW Hochwertige Mini- und Rahmenpumpen, präzise Dämpferpumpen und das Kultprodukt, der SKSRENNKOMPRESSOR, prägen heute das Luftpumpen-Sortiment. Auch im Radschutzbereich führen immer neue Entwicklungen einen Siegeszug im Radzubehör-Sektor an. Kompakte FahrradWerkzeuge, Kettenschützer, Flaschen, Flaschenhalter, Fahrradtaschen und Sättel wurden ebenfalls in das SKS-Sortiment integriert, um für noch mehr Komfort und Sicherheit auf dem Rad zu sorgen. Das Qualitätssiegel MADE IN GERMANY spiegelt dabei die hohen Ansprüche an Qualität, Funktion und Design wieder, denn in den hauseigenen Entwicklungs- und Konstruktionsabteilungen werden die SKS-Produkte mit viel Erfahrung und Kreativität entwickelt und anschließend auf Herz und Nieren getestet. Die vielen Auszeichnungen wie der RED DOT und der EUROBIKE AWARD, das Prädikat »Führender Anbieter für Fahrradzubehör« und die zahlreichen hervorragenden Testurteile in renommierten Fachmagazinen sprechen für sich.

OHNE UMWEGE ZUM ERFOLG Gerade in Zeiten der Globalisierung ist es für das Traditionsunternehmen Herausforderung und Passion zugleich, weiterhin konkurrenzfähig am Standort Deutschland zu produzieren und so über 300 Mitarbeiter aus der Region zu beschäftigen.

Kontinuierlich werden außerdem bis zu 30 junge Menschen im Hause SKS ausgebildet, das mit dem Gütesiegel »Ausgezeichneter Ausbildungsbetrieb« prämiert wurde. Jugend- und Amateur-Radsportvereine sowie regionale Fahrrad-Events werden zudem regelmäßig von SKS unterstützt. Zu diesen Veranstaltungen zählt auch das jährlich in Sundern stattfindende Mountainbike-Festival »Mega-Sports«, wo Teilnehmer aus aller Welt beim anspruchsvollen SKS-Bike-Marathon die Sauerländer Höhen bezwingen.

INNOVATIVE FORCES WITH KNOW-HOW High-quality mini-pumps and frame pumps, precise air pumps and the original product, the SKS-RENNKOMPRESSOR define the bicycle air pump range. Even in the area of spray protection (fenders), new developments drive the victories that SKS has attained in the bicycle accessories segment. Compact bicycle tools, chain guards, bottles, bottle holders and seats have also been integrated into the SKS range of products in order to provide for even more comfort and safety while cycling. The quality stamp MADE IN GERMANY is reflected in the high standards for quality, functionality and design. This is because SKS products are developed at the in-house Research and Development departments with our years of experience and creativity and are then rigorously tested. The many awards such as the RED DOT and the EUROBIKE AWARD, the title »Führender Anbieter für Fahrradzubehör« (Leading supplier of bicycle accessories) and the many, excellent test ratings in renowned trade magazines speak for themselves.

ONWARDS TO SUCCESS WITHOUT DETOURS The global market has created an environment in which it is a challenge (and a passion) for traditional companies to continue to competitively manufacture in Germany, and to provide employment to over 300 employees in the region. In addition, up to 30 young people are continuously in training at SKS for a future in business. SKS has been awarded the seal of approval with the title of »Ausgezeichneter Ausbildungsbetrieb« (Excellent Training Company). Youth and amateur cycling sports clubs and regional cycling events are regularly supported by SKS. The annual Mountainbike Festival, »Mega-Sports«, takes place in Sundern where participants from all over the world attempt to conquer Sauerland’s heights in this challenging SKS Bicycle Marathon. Professional bicycle equipment is proudly produced in Sundern and displays the distinctive logo in the characteristic SKS orange. A color that represents strength, action and progress and blazes like the fire which has burned tirelessly in the heart of the company for over 80 years.

AIRBOY CO2: Die Kombination aus zwei Welten: Hier vereinen sich die Features der AIRBOY-Minipumpe mit denen einer kompakten CO2-Kartuschenpumpe. Das Pumpenrohr mit extra großem Durchmesser sorgt für einen extrem schnellen Druckaufbau im Reifen, der mit Hilfe des 80mm großen Manometers optimal kontrolliert werden kann. Die Standpumpe wird ergänzt um eine ROOKIE 29ER-Minipumpe, die im Gegensatz zur normalen ROOKIE ein verlängertes Rohr bietet und somit ein größeres Volumen ermöglicht.

Ebenfalls zur Ausstattung gehören ein Ball- und ein Matratzenadapter.

BLUEMELS - VARATIONEN BLUEMELS - VARIATIONS CAB (Celluloseacetobutyrat).

CAB ist ein hochwertiger Kunststoff, der auf Cellulose (Baumwolle) basiert. Das Material zeichnet sich durch einen sehr hohen Oberflächenglanz aus und ist dauerhaft sowohl UV- als auch witterungsbeständig. Profile aus CAB sind besonders flexibel. Auch nach jahrelanger Nutzung in allen Wetterverhältnissen ist fast kein Verschleiß erkennbar.

Das Gros der Hersteller, insbesondere diejenigen, die im High-End Bereich angesiedelt sind, setzt CAB bei den Radschützern ein, um die Fahrräder optimal auszustatten.

CAB (cellulose acetate butyrate) CAB is a premium-class plastic based on cellulose (wood). Characteristic for this material is the glossy surface. It is permanently weather and UV-resistant. Profiles made from CAB are flexible. Even after years of use under all kinds of weather conditions it hardly wears out. Many bike manufacturers, especially the high-end ones, use mudguards made from CAB to optimally equip their bikes.
