AMPLIFY APARTMENTS WHY MANCHESTER?

Inventors and Innovators

During the 18th century, Manchester became famous for its textile production. By building waterpowered cotton mills along Manchester’s sprawling canal network, the city went on to become a worldwide supplier of cotton. Manchester’s cotton and textile production grew throughout the industrial revolution, with the city being affectionately known as “Cottonopolis” due to its huge cotton exports. Even to this day, Australians still refer to cotton bedding as ‘Manchester’.

Manchester is also known for its pioneering thought leaders that have paved the way for modern cultural and scientific movements. Whether it was Alan Turing cracking the enigma code in World War 2, the landmark discovery of graphene, or Emmeline Pankhurst leading the fight for women’s rights, Manchester has been the birthplace of many iconic historical figures and the changes they’ve made to the world as we know it.

With a thriving number of big businesses covering sectors from legal to accounting, and fashion to retail, Manchester is now home to 80 of the FTSE100 and many more international businesses. The BBC, Google, Amazon and Adidas all have office spaces in Manchester, highlighting the global pull the city has for the giants of industry. ITV, Bank of New York and MediaCityUK are the largest employer of media and the arts outside of London.

Manchester is also known for its world-leading Universities. Over 100,000 students across 10 institutions, including the University of Manchester, Manchester Metropolitan and the University of Salford, are currently studying in the city. Manchester’s student population is thriving and bringing with it an increased demand for the best employment and social opportunities. With one of the highest graduate retention rates in the country, it’s no surprise Manchester’s students are calling the city their home after their education finishes and making the most of everything on offer.

Modern day icons

16

AMPLIFY APARTMENTS WHY SALFORD QUAYS?

MediaCityUK

Salford Quays is on the Rise Salford Quays has put itself on the map as a waterfront community. It was 1894 when Queen Victoria opened up Salford Docks as part of the larger Manchester Docks, and it was thriving. So much so that it became the third busiest dock in the country with many of the cargo and sometimes, even passengers travelling to and from Canada. Fast forward nearly 90 years later, three years after the docks had closed, the Salford Quays Development Plan was introduced which cleaned up the water in the canal, brought fish to improve the ecosystem and concentrated on creating better links to the city centre. The result? It’s now flourishing with businesses and activities that are transforming the area, making it a desirable place to call home.

27

26

Salford Quays is home to the BBC and ITV Studios, making the world famous Coronation Street, Salford University, MediaCityUK, one of the North West’s best cultural, sporting and leisure destinations and the famous Lowry Theatre.

AMPLIFY APARTMENTS WHY INVEST?

Manchester vs London With a rising number of employment, educational and social opportunities now available in Manchester, demand is rising for properties in the city. Over the next 10 years, 55,000 new properties are required in Manchester to meet current demands. Planned projects and completions in the past year are significantly falling short of this, meaning Manchester is now chronically undersupplied for available homes.
