+ I n t e r i o r D e s ig n e r : T e g e r di n e A s s o ci a t e s Louise Tegerdine established Tegerdine Associates in March 2001. With a background in interior design and architecture Louise has always sought to produce elegant, timeless schemes that bring pleasure to those who live or work in them. Over the years her work has taken her from London, Manchester, York and the home counties to Europe, the Middle East and more recently South Africa. Working for both private and commercial clients has meant the company has always maintained a diverse portfolio of work. Tegerdine Associates were delighted when Lendlease’s Head of Residential, Richard Cook, invited them to be involved in the Potato Wharf scheme. 'We always strive to find products which are high quality; when thought and time has gone into their design and manufacture we can be confident they will wear and date well. We particularly love the large format tiles we are using on the Potato Wharf bathrooms; the manufacturer has used the most current production methods to produce tiles that have many of the qualities of fabrics; it seemed an apt choice for Manchester with its rich historical links to cotton weaving and the textile industry. We tried to stay true to the character of the area and building. We wanted a nod to ‘urban edge’, so in kitchens we have combined brick effect tiles with worn ash Amtico floors. This contrasts elegantly with the lacquered minimal kitchen. Our design is all about creating a rich palette of strong colours and textures that run throughout the apartment'

+ Weedon Architects Weedon Architects are an award winning Birmingham based practice founded upon the timeless principles of integrity, creative-thinking, design excellence and attention to detail. They have worked with Lendlease for over 12 years on projects in Bath, Birmingham, York and of course Manchester to create high quality, sustainable and unique developments. The architecture at Potato Wharf has been designed to be distinctive whilst respecting the tradition and history of the surrounding site. Goodwin will sit parallel to the canal basin and, along with the existing Whitworth, help recreate the warehouse relationship that once used to frame these canal basins when the area was a key industrial interchange. The irregularity of the block’s silver/grey brick colours adds interest to the façade, with the brick surfaces helping portray a physical presence responsive to the adjacent viaducts, and surrounding Victorian infrastructure. The projecting balcony pods provide visual contrast with the brick and reflect the traditional bright primary colours of the historical canal long boats. The timber bases resonate with the large timber lock gates in the area and the deep recessed windows on the top two floors reflect the deep slots in the adjacent metal railway viaducts. Both blocks sit within their own specially designed landscaping, with a mix of distinctive areas depending on its location and hierarchy. Residents will have access to all these green landscaped spaces, with appropriate native planting and trees across the site. ‘We are delighted to be working with Lendlease again to help design and deliver these unique, high quality and sustainable apartments. Having worked on an earlier phase of Potato Wharf, we have an in depth understanding and knowledge of the site, which we feel we have integrated into the design of these new apartments. The design is an evolution of the earlier phase’s successful design, updated to meet the latest sustainability and design requirements’.

Each apartment has been designed to a high specification incorporating elegant, timeless interiors and contemporary features. We’ve developed a greater sense of space with large windows, and balconies to many apartments, giving a feeling of outdoor space. We’ve designed comfortable homes with an ‘urban edge’ to pay homage to the industrial heritage of the local area. State of the art kitchens boast modern appliances with a rustic post-modern edge combining brick effect tiles with worn ash Amtico floors. This contrasts elegantly with the lacquered minimal kitchen. Bathrooms benefit from spa-inspired fittings and large format tile finishes. Our design is all about creating a rich palette of strong colours and textures that run throughout the apartment and can be used as a backdrop for buyers to add their own personal style.
