Altrincham has emerged as a prosperous commuter town since its beginnings as a market hub in the early thirteenth century. Positioned close to both Manchester city centre, the Cheshire countryside and retail juggernaut the Trafford Centre Shopping Mall.
The recent restoration of the town’s historic Grade II Market Hall has helped to herald the town’s rebirth as a ‘foodie destination’ for Greater Manchester. The building now provides a central ‘hub’, offering live music, craft beers and artisan foods. Next door, the town’s covered market features stallholders selling everything from crafts to antiques, vintage clothing, flowers, fruit, fish and locally produced vegetables.
Occupiers of The Wharf apartments will be located in the UK’s premier shopping hotspot; as well as benefitting from the thriving entertainment and nightlife offered by living in such close proximity to Manchester.

There’s a village square atmosphere too at Goose Green which is a great spot for lunch or coffee, and of course, is a lovely place to sit alfresco on the quaint cobbled streets and watch the world go by in the sunshine. One of the main attractions of Altrincham has always been its independent specialist shops and visitors can find everything from designer clothing to vintage in areas such as The Downs.

Altrincham Interchange makes use of the town’s excellent connectivity to nearby Manchester city centre, Trafford, Oldham and Rochdale. Altrincham is an integral part of Manchester’s new Metrolink travel network, with connections to Piccadilly Station, Manchester Airport and the BBC northern headquarters, MediaCityUK. Altrincham is particularly commuterfriendly due to the consolidation of its public transport into one designated area, with rail, tram and bus services all operating from Altrincham Interchange. The Metrolink network runs services to Manchester Airport, which provides flights to destinations across the globe. The airport is situated just five miles southeast of Altrincham, providing residents of The Wharf easy access to domestic and international locations.
