Dear Neighbors, Hello, and Happy New Year! The world doesn’t feel too different from a year ago, but the San Francisco real estate market is dramatically different from Jan 2021. We started 2021 with 15.6 months of supply in Mission Bay, and we’re at 5.5 months of supply currently (see below graph). 20 15 10 5 2018

Mission Bay is seeing a shortage of homes right now. Historically, low inventory means more buyer demand and less competition for Sellers that put their homes on the market at the same time. Something else to note, the U.S. has reopened its borders to vaccinated international travelers from 33 countries. In the past, overseas buyers love to invest in major cities like SF, NYC, Miami, and LA. The return of foreign buyers should benefit the San Francisco real estate market positively. With low inventory, low interest rates, and influx of new buyers to the marketplace, it may be a good time to move quickly--for both local buyers and sellers.
