Hello Neighbors! Activity in San Francisco real estate typically picks up in the Springtime, but this year was different. Buyers were active starting in December, and the momentum continued into 2021. In the graph below, you’ll see an evident increase in the number of homes sold in Mission Bay this year. The numbers are trending upwards, and this is exciting! Buyers are back in San Francisco, and they’re active! Although buyers are still cautious and taking their time to shop around, we’re seeing multiple offers and over-asking offers on well-priced homes again in Mission Bay. 90 80 70 60 50 JAN 2020

The year started strong, however, we are expecting to see an increase in inventory soon. Between August to December 2020, 85 homes were withdrawn/canceled in Mission Bay. This means 85 homes were put on MLS in the Spring/Summer, but couldn’t sell, so Sellers pulled the home from the market later in the year. Some of those homes were rented out, but many are expected to come back on MLS this Spring. In the last decade, this is the highest number of withdrawn/canceled homes in Mission Bay in a given year. The expected increase in condo inventory could cause prices to steady in the coming months. If you’re thinking of selling, now may be a good time to prep your home for sale before more inventory comes to market.
