GREETINGS They used to be called “Pillars of the Community”–accomplished people with an altruistic spirit and outstanding character who gave of their time and talents to help others and improve their towns and neighborhoods. They were role models and leaders who set an example and who people looked up to. Tonight we are calling them Men and Women Who Make The Difference! We come to recognize and celebrate their accomplishments and contributions. Welcome and thank you for joining us in this celebration of these individuals who are the unsung heroes of our community. We especially want to thank the sponsors listed in this program booklet and who will be recognized throughout the program. They make a difference too, because they invested significant resources in order to support programs for our young people. Finally, I want to thank our staff and particularly Cindy Martin and Daon McLarin Johnson, our program directors, who work diligently to provide quality academic and enrichment programs for our students. I hope you will have a wonderful evening, meet some new friends, and see the great work that is being done to build a better future for our community. Thank you for your support and we invite you to stay involved.
