This session will discuss identifying the students’ needs and offer practical ways to handle certain behaviors that will encourage high student engagement.

One of the most underutilized partners in our student’s education are our parents and guardians. How might we partner with families to educate the whole child? Our families matter! How do we create a welcoming environment for our families? Attend this workshop to receive effective tips on increasing family engagement.

TRIBUTE TO MS. WORTHAM Presented by: Barnard’s School Team Change Agent Change agents like Antoinette Wortham leave a lasting impression on students, parents, and communities that withstands the test of time. To honor her life and recognize her impact on afterschool at Barnard, OSTP has invited the School Team at Barnard Elementary to present a tribute to Ms. Wortham.

Build relationships through “Chat N’ Chew” breakout sessions with OSTP Coordinators. During these sessions, all staff will participate in team building exercises and coordinators will share best practices for administering the curriculum.

Academic Power Hour Afterschool Site Leader Role Hear from a panel of Afterschool Site Leaders on managing daytime and afterschool roles, creating engaging newsletters, aligning afterschool instruction with the SEL curriculum, and more! By the end of this workshop, you will be able to fill in the blank yourself and gain a deeper understanding of the expecta tions for Afterschool Site Leaders as well as important policy and guidance surrounding afterschool programming.

Our Annual OSTP Afterschool Staff Training closes with a keynote address from Dr. Ram Bhagat, the founder of the Drums No Guns Foundation, an organization dedicated to raising awareness about the impacts of gun violence on youth. Witness a special performance by Drums No Guns to energize us as we take what we have learned as a community of afterschool professionals into the new school year.
