SPEAKERS David S. Iannucci
Economic Development Corporation
David S. Iannucci has served in the Administration of Prince George’s County Executive Rushern Baker, III as the Assistant Deputy Chief Administrative Officer for Economic Development since 2011. In that position, he oversees the activities of the Prince George’s County Economic Development Corporation, FSC First, and the Conference and Visitors Bureau. Mr. Iannucci led the County’s effort to develop its current Strategic Plan for Economic Development, under which the County is #1 in job growth in the State of Maryland, and he directs Prince George’s County’s successful effort to retain and support the existing business community. Mr. Iannucci oversees the County Executive’s $50 million Economic Development Incentive Fund, now poised to leverage over $1 Billion in projects. He has played a prominent role on the County’s key initiatives such as the pursuit of the U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation headquarters, the new University of Maryland Medical Center, the Purple Line, and multiple Transit Oriented Development projects. In his 45-year career, Mr. Iannucci has served in many positions within state and local government. His previous positions include Secretary of the Maryland Department of Business and Economic Development, Executive Director of the Baltimore County Department of Economic Development, and under former Maryland Governor William Donald Schaefer, Chief Legislative Officer. Mr. Iannucci is a 1979 graduate of the University Of Maryland School Of Law, a member of the Maryland Bar, and a 1974 graduate of the University of Maryland College Park. David S. Iannucci is also a former President of the Maryland Economic Development Association and is a member of the MEDA Hall of Fame. A long-time resident of Prince George’s County, he resides in Bowie with his wife and daughter.
SPEAKERS Darryl Mealy
Vice President, Construction and Facilities Planning University of Maryland Medical System
Darryl Mealy has more than 30 years experience with design, planning and construction of major capital projects. These projects cross several industries including health care, industrial, commercial, and long-term care. Currently, Darryl serves as vice president of construction and facilities planning for the University of Maryland Medical System (UMMS), where he has been employed for 12 years. During his tenure at UMMS, he has overseen the System’s Midtown hospital central care expansion project, University of Maryland Medical Center’s shock trauma expansion project, UMMS corporate office complex, CHP & infrastructure projects, and facility planning and design for other hospitals within the system. As part of all UMMS Capital projects, Darryl has a hands-on role in the planning and purchasing of furniture, signage, medical equipment, security as well as the information technology infrastructure. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in civil engineering from Penn State University.
Craig Friedson
Assistant Vice President Development at Retail Properties of America, Inc. (RPAI)
Craig Friedson joined RPAI in February, 2017 and currently serves as a Development Manager – Eastern Division. Previously, Mr. Friedson was a Development Manager for Vornado Realty, working on the repositioning of Crystal City. Prior to joining Vornado, Mr. Friedson was a Construction Manager for EDENS, where he worked on Mosaic District, Union Market locally as well as South Bay in Boston and several other mixeduse, multi-phase projects. Mr. Friedson is currently working through the lease-up of Reisterstown Road Plaza, as well as entitlements and development for Downtown Crown, One Loudoun and the Boulevard at the Caps Centre. In addition to the re/ development work, he supports the Leasing and Acquisitions teams on our any of the more complex deals containing mixed-use. Mr. Friedson received his B.A. in Economics from the University of Maryland. Mr. Friedson is a member of ICSC and ULI.
SPEAKERS Roland Jones
Director of the Office of Central Services, Prince George’s County
A nationally renowned business veteran, Roland L. Jones has served as the Chief Procurement Officer for Prince George’s County Government since 2014. In the role as Director of the Office of Central Services, he leads the organization responsible for all facets of government services including contracts and procurement, facility management, land acquisition, fleet management and maintenance. Prior to this appointment, he led the agency’s Minority Business Opportunities Commission/ Supplier Development and Diversity Division as Executive Director where he helped to develop a culture that embraced diversity and values. There he oversaw the minority business program and developed a broad range of opportunities for inclusion putting Prince George’s County businesses on a level playing field in the Baker Administration. As a past Director of Procurement & Contract Management for the Maryland Department of Environment, he served as the Chief Procurement Officer and oversaw all purchasing and contracting services. Prior to joining the public sector, this forward thinking leader developed an impressive track record in the private sector with such entities as AT&T, Booz, Allen & Hamilton, Sprint Nextel Corporation, GTSI, I-Net, Fannie Mae, Corporate Systems Resources, Commerce Funding Corporation, Wang, and Getronics Government Solutions. A sought after national expert in the field of Supplier Development and Diversity, Jones serves as the Chairman of the Board of the Capital Region Minority Supplier Development Council, (CRMSDC). He has held numerous leadership positions within the National Minority Supplier Development Council, (NMSDC), the institute for Supply Management, the Minority Business and Professional Network, Inc., the United States Pan Asian American Chamber of Commerce (US PAACC), the United States Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (USHCC), the Senior Executive Advisory Board (SECAB), and the Procurement Corporation Advisory Board (PCAB). He holds a Master of Science in Procurement and Contract Management from the University of Maryland – University College and a Bachelor of Arts in the Administration of Justice from Howard University. He is a member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc., and an active member of the local community through the First Baptist Church of Glenarden. Mr. Jones has been the recipient of numerous accolades and awards for his decades of excellent service to the business community. Recognized as one of America’s Top Diversity Advocates, one of the 50 powerful US/International Business Executives, and one of the 2018 Top 30 Champions of Diversity. Mr. Jones is acknowledged by his peers from state and local government and throughout Corporate America as a dedicated, purposeful and proven trailblazer.

Baltimore Integration Partnership
Kurt Sommer is the Director of the Baltimore Integration Partnership (BIP) which is a collaborative partnership of anchor institutions, funders, nonprofits and public organizations focused on establishing economic inclusion as the business culture of norm in the Baltimore region. The BIP is supported by national and local partners and is a part of the Living Cities Integration Initiative. Prior to joining the Association of Baltimore Area Grantmakers, Kurt has held positions in public policy and research with the Maryland Department of Housing and Community Development, Baltimore Housing, and the Brookings Institution. Kurt holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from Washington College and a Master of Community Planning degree from the University of Maryland. Kurt was appointed as a member of the Baltimore City Commission on Sustainability in 2018. He is a Baltimore native and is married with one child.
