HOT NEWS McLaren P1 GTR DESIGN CONCEPT McLaren will unveil its new P1 GTR design concept at the 2014 Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance in the USA. This super-exclusive car is only available if you’ve already purchased the standard P1! Included in the purchase price is a fully comprehensive programme to include driving events, training and support. Considering McLaren are one of the longest running and most successful motor racing companies, this is bound to be a formidable track tool that will satisfy even the best racing driver.
NISSAN IDX Hot Cars checked out both the Nissan IDX concepts at this years Goodwood Festival of Speed and it was our unexpected new car of the show! The details and proportions of this car are fantastic and the potential for customisation is huge, as you can see from the two versions pictured here. The little green car is the Datsun 510, which the IDX takes its inspiration from. The 510 is a legend in classic-car circles because of its racing success. Nissan won’t say whether it will build the car but it should – it will prove that the mighty GT-R is not the only cool car it’s capable of building!
FERRARI F12 TRS This one-off Ferrari reportedly cost its lucky owner £3 million to build! TRS stands for Testa Rossa, which this car takes its inspiration from. It’s based on the F12 but most of the bodywork is new, including the wrap-around windscreen.
CIVIC TYPE R Honda plans to take the new Type R to the Nürburgring to smash the lap record for hot hatches. With 280bhp+, a 0–60 time of 6 seconds and a top speed of 150mph (est) it looks set to beat Renault’s time of 7.54.36 set by its Megane Trophy-R. Watch this space!

JAGUAR PROJECT 7 This is the first production car from Jaguar’s new Special Operations group, Jaguar’s version of AMG. Only 250 Project 7s will be made and each one will cost £135,000. It gets a more powerful 5.0-litre V8, boosting it to 567bhp and making it capable of 186mph and achieving 0-60 in 3.8 seconds. The bodywork changes are inspired by the Le Mans-winning D-Type from the 1950s. Next from Special Projects is a Range Rover Sport SVR. We can’t wait to see that!
BENTLEY GT3-R The GT3-R is Bentley’s Continental racer for the road. The twin-turbo 4.0-litre V8 develops 572bhp and roars to 60mph in just 3.8sec, making this the fastest Bentley ever! Only 300 will be made and will cost an eye-watering £240,000.
ASTON MARTIN DP-100 CONCEPT Yet another amazing supercar concept built exclusively for Gran Turismo 6, the DP-100 is a mid-engined 800bhp bi-turbo V12 monster. Aston Martin designer Marek Reichman said he couldn’t wait to get involved as it was a great excuse to go crazy doing something he would never otherwise be allowed to do!

SSC OF AMERICA ARE PLANNING THE ULTIMATE SUPERCAR WITH 1350BHP!
SSC TUATAR ULTIMATE!
SSC stands for Shelby SuperCars. Based in Washington, USA, it is owned by Jerod Shelby, who is not related to legendary racer and Cobra creator, Carroll Shelby. The first car made by the company was the SSC Aero, which, with its 6.3-litre V8 produced 1287bhp, making it the world’s fastest car at the time. The next car, the Ultimate Aero, had a top speed of 256mph, which was also a record until the Bugatti Veyron Super Sport beat it in 2010 with a speed of 267.8mph. The Tuatara is aiming to take both those records back, but as yet is untested.
HUGE POWER
The Tuatara is just a mock-up at the moment – the interior and engine are still being developed.
JASON CAStriota DESIGNS Jason Castriota designed the beautiful SSC Tuatara. Here are three more of his greatest hits.
FERRARI 599 GTB Jason started his career at famous Italian design house Carrozzeria Pininfarina as an intern in 2001, and by 2007 he was named chief designer. One of his most famous designs while there was the Ferrari 599 GTB.
6
RA You might think 1350bhp is a hu ge figure for any ca r, but the Tuatar a can actually deve lop 1700bhp with its emission contro ls removed! The equally huge (claimed) top sp eed of 276mph is possible due to the high power and light weight. SSC claim the Tuatar a weighs 1250kg , meaning a power-to-weigh t ratio of over 10 00bhp per ton. Even the w heels are carbon fibre!
DOWNFORCE
Venturi ducts at the rear ensure the car is held down onto the road – with all that power, it needs them! SSC TUATARA ENGINE

SAAB PHOENIX
MASERATI GRAN TURISMO
His other big hit for a major car manufacturer was the Maserati Gran Turismo. Jason used the beautiful Maserati racing cars from the ‘50s and ‘60s as inspiration when creating this car.
Saab hired Jason as its head of design and he went ahead and created the PhoeniX. Saab went into receivership shortly after its release so the efforts to re-invent the company came to nothing.

2010 hybrid-electric two-seater concept car built with williams F1
JAGUAR C-X7 TURBINE POWER
The C-X75 debuted at the 2010 Paris Motor Show, showing off some serious technology under its slippery curves. It’s powered by four electric motors, each driving a wheel, with batteries charging these motors using two diesel-fed micro gas turbines instead of a normal engine. In 2011 Jaguar announced it was going to build a maximum of 250 cars in partnership with Williams F1, priced between £700,000 and £900,000 each. However, in 2012 Jaguar cancelled the project due to the continuing ressession. The grey car in the pictures is a much more fully developed version of the concept car (in silver) and shows how far Jaguar progressed before pulling the plug.
