Shilo Bartlett focuses on CASA of the 9th in a special way. As many know, Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) of the Ninth Judicial District strives to make a positive impact on the lives of youth and families in our community. CASA of the Ninth promotes healthy family relationships by providing community volunteers who advocate for the needs of abused, neglected and exploited children involved in Dependency & Neglect (D&N) cases in court proceedings. To do this, CASA advocates bringing the children’s voices to court as well as help provide information and resources to children and families involved in D&N cases so families are equipped to provide a safe and supportive home. In 2020, CASA of the Ninth and our incredible volunteer Advocates served 68 children, a 15.3% increase from the year prior. On September 25, 2021, CASA of the Ninth is planning to host the 3rd annual CASA Superhero Run at Crown Mountain Park in El Jebel. CASA recognizes that all children need heroes, but abused children need superheroes! Their goal is to highlight the critical impact CASA volunteers have on the lives of the children they advocate for. The run will be a 5K Race and a 1-mile Kids Fun Run. Immediately following the run is the Blue Lake Preschool’s annual pumpkin patch event. The whole day will be tons of fun. Superhero costumes are encouraged, but not required.
