Footnotes: Demitris Barnwell is a recent graduate of Takoma Academy and a freshman at Washington Adventist University. His hobbies include boxing & playing basketball. Peter Nigel Barnwell is a spiritual leader in small group ministries such as prayer gathering and Bible study. The joy he experiences through Christ is contagious in his family and in ever widening circles. Stephen Chavez is a person whose energy seems to be limitless. Chairing our Sligo church board and teaching Earliteen Sabbath School are among his many adventures in life, in addition to riding motorcycles and bicycles. He recently rode his bicycle from Cumberland, Maryland to Washington, D.C. on the Chesapeake and Ohio (C&O) Canal towpath. Myles Gilbertson, son of Jon and Gem, has been a member of Sligo and a violinist since age 4. He enjoys sports and eating. His favorite team is, who else, the Redskins. Joanna Kimura, a long-time member of Sligo, has also been in the Sligo Sanctuary Choir for nearly 20 years. She and her husband Ted will celebrate 40 years of marriage on September 15, 2012. She survives work as a health professional and enjoys being a mother of 4 and grandmother of 3. Fitzroy & Jennifer Thomas are a dynamic duo, dedicated to serving others with their gifts of welcoming and connecting visitors and members. They lead a Sabbath School class especially for new believers. Fitzroy is looking forward to the new year at Washington Adventist University, where he plays a key role in welcoming new students.
