Welcome to Sligo. I am sure that many of you are familiar with the phrase, “Be it ever so humble, there’s no place like home.” It is a line from John Howard Payne’s 1823 opera “The Maid of Milan.” To place this line in its proper context, we must first read the line which precedes it. “Mid pleasures and palaces though we may roam...” In essence Payne says that no matter how grand and majestic the places are that we might encounter during our life’s journey, no place can produce the sense of belonging and attachment that we feel when returning to the place we call home. And this is our hope for you today as you have returned to this campus. May you experience a deep sense of belonging, despite the many years that have taken you away. Today we welcome Dr. Kendra Holoviak Valentine as she returns to bring us a message of hope from God’s word for these trying times. We are confident that He will not disappoint us.

Summary of our Beliefs
• The Bible is the inspired word of God and our only rule of
faith and practice. (2 Timothy 3:16, 17). • Jesus Christ is the Divine Son of God and our personal Savior from sin by grace through faith. (John 1:1-3; Ephesians 2:8). • Having been saved, followers of Jesus live in obedience to Him by observing the Ten Commandments. (Exodus 20: 1-17; John 14:15). • The Sabbath – the seventh day of the week- established by God at creation and honored by Jesus in His earthly ministry, is to be observed by the followers of Jesus. (Exodus 20:8-11; 1 Peter 2:21). • Jesus is coming back to earth personally and visibly to raise the righteous dead and give His faithful children of all ages immortality in an earth made new. (1 Thessalonians 4:15-17; Revelation 22:12; 21:1-3). • Our love for God is demonstrated primarily by our love for our fellowmen. (1 John 4:20; Matthew 25:34-40)

“That is the returning to God which in reality is never concluded on earth but yet leaves behind in the soul a divine home sickness, which never again ceases.” – Max Muller
Adventist History Series - Wednesdays, 7:00 - 8:00 p.m. in Fellowship Hall A. Does history matter for a movement focused on the Second Coming and the end of time? This series, by Dr. David Trim, Director of Archives, Statistics, and Research at the Seventh-day Adventist Church World Headquarters, will explore Adventist history, with a particular focus on mission. It will show why our history matters - the stories that can inspire; the mistakes that we need to learn from; and the heritage that shaped us and continues to shape our identity in the twenty-first century. You won’t want to miss this! “Crowns” Tea & Silent Auction: Tomorrow, April 13. Join us for the “Crowns” Tea and Silent Auction on Sunday, April 13, at 4:00 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall.
