Welcome to Sligo today. In studying the life of Christ in the gospels, one of the things that becomes apparently clear is the conflict that existed between Jesus and the April 15, Saturday religious establishment of his day. A point of contention Young Adults GLOW, Memorial Chapel, 9:30 a.m. was the Law; more specifically, the Sabbath. To be clear, the dispute was never over whether the Sabbath should April 16, Sunday be observed, but always over how it should be observed. Worship Service, Sanctuary, 11:00 a.m. Time after time Jesus was challenged by the Pharisees about the Jaci Velasquez Concert, Sanctuary, 5:00 p.m. manner in which he conducted himself on the Sabbath, especially when it came to the issue of performing healings. In one instance April 17, Monday religious leaders plotted to take his life, simply because he chose to Regeneration Ministries, Office Conference Room, 7:30 p.m. bring healing and relief to a man who possessed a withered hand. How could these “men of God” have a problem with Jesus restoring life on April 19, Wednesday the Sabbath, but have no problem with taking a life on the Sabbath? What I find even more amazing is that when Jesus was crucified and Prayer Gathering, Sanctuary, 7:00 p.m. placed in the tomb, they still weren’t willing to grant him rest on the (or by phone: 949.229.4400 Pin:4997774#, 7:35 p.m.) Sabbath, even while in death. Sanctuary Choir Rehearsal, Choir Room, 8:00 p.m. - Charles A. Tapp
