Please contact Sam Stone at 301.270.6777, ext. 118 if you’re able to help. On April 25, Sligo Church officially welcomes the Khabbaz family. Joseph Khabbaz is our new Youth and Young Adult pastor. He comes to us from the South Queensland Conference in Australia, where he served as Associate Youth Director, with responsibility for Tertiary Students and Young Adults, His wife, Christina is a former Sligo member. A longstanding tradition of Sligo Church is the pounding of new pastors and their families. Members of the church are invited to bring various items of food (each weighing approximately one pound) for the families. Pastor and Mrs. Khabbaz will be pounded on Saturday, April 25 in connection with their introduction to the Sligo community. Non-perishable items are preferred. Please take your gifts to the Atrium when you arrive on Sabbath. Let’s plan to make this a memorable event for the Khabbaz family. A reception will be held after the second service, when members will be able to greet Joseph and Christina. Leading our music today are: Patrick Alston, organist Desmond Pierre-Louis, chorister The Brothers of CPC (Community Praise Center) Footnotes: Shane Kelley has been a member of Sligo since his baptism in 1993. He supports Sligo’s homeless and prison ministries, and enjoys his work developing international transportation policy for the U.S. Department of Transportation. He will greatly miss Pastor Terry with whom he formed many great memories. Shane worked with Pastor Terry on many Youth mission trips that Pastor Terry organized during his tenure at Sligo. Jonathan Mowry has been a lifelong member of Sligo and was a member of the Youth when Pastor Terry joined the staff. After high school, Jonathan served with Pastor Terry for 10 years in the Youth and Young Adult department. Pastor Terry also presided over his marriage to Nayara, and has played a special part in the life of Ethan, their latest addition to the family. Johnson Ram has been a member of Sligo Church for the past 25 years and is an Adult Sabbath School teacher. He and his wife, Shyamala have two sons and one daughter-in-law. Johnson loves to play tennis, especially with his Senior Pastor. At present he works at the General Conference in the Archives, Statistics and Research department. Johnson’s relationship and work with Pastor Terry has spanned 20 years. Pastor Terry was an exceptional mentor to his daughter Sonika, and was a strong sustenance during her loss in 2002. Pastor Terry worked with the family to help build the school for orphans in Mexico, in Sonika’s memory, through the concerts and mission trips sponsored by Sligo Church. next week, here at Sligo... Pastor Tapp will preach his first message, “When God Tries Your Patience ” from his sermon series titled: “When All You Can Do is Pray.” Music will be provided by piano duo, Jemuel and Donna-Marie Anderson and soloist CeCe Henry.

A funeral will be held for her on Sunday, April 26 at 10:00 a.m. in Sligo Church. A Memorial Service will be held in memory of Corinne Delafield tomorrow, April 19 at 2:00 p.m. in Sligo Church, with a reception for family and friends following in the Church Atrium. Grace Alexander was a long time Sligo member before moving to Georgia. We are sad to hear of her passing on March 3, 2015. She has many friends here at Sligo and at the GC who miss her dearly. She was funeralized in GA on March 11, 2015.
