Welcome to Sligo today. Recently I read a story about two pastors who were sitting in a packed stadium watching a football game. Suddenly, one of the pastors turned to his colleague and said, “I hate football!” As you can imagine, his friend who was shocked by the announcement turned and asked, “Then why in the world did you suggest that we come to see, of all things, a football game?” His pastor friend replied, “Because I love to be where people are excited about something.” As interesting as this pastor’s response is, the question that begs to be asked is: Why is it that as a society, we become so easily excited with entertainment, but not with most other things pertaining to life? And better yet, why do we as Christians become more excited when it comes to these kinds of activities than we do about the church. Is that just the way it’s supposed to be? Or could it be that there is an extremely important ingredient missing from our church life that if added, would make all the difference in the world? Today, we will explore these ideas in our message, The Nutrition of Nurture. - Charles A. Tapp

• The Bible is the inspired word of God and our only rule of faith and practice. (2 Timothy 3:16, 17). • Jesus Christ is the Divine Son of God and our personal Savior from sin by grace through faith. (John 1:1-3; Ephesians 2:8). • Having been saved, followers of Jesus live in obedience to Him by observing the Ten Commandments. (Exodus 20: 1-17; John 14:15). • The Sabbath – the seventh day of the week- established by God at creation and honored by Jesus in His earthly ministry, is to be observed by the followers of Jesus. (Exodus 20:8-11; 1 Peter 2:21). • Jesus is coming back to earth personally and visibly to raise the righteous dead and give His faithful children of all ages immortality in an earth made new. (1 Thessalonians 4:15-17; Revelation 22:12; 21:1-3). • Our love for God is demonstrated primarily by our love for our fellowmen. (1 John 4:20; Matthew 25:34-40).

Leader: Now it came to pass, in the days when the judges ruled, that there was a famine in the land. And a certain man of Bethlehem, Judah, went to dwell in the country of Moab, he and his wife and his two sons. Congregation: The name of the man was Elimelech, the name of his wife was Naomi, and the names of his two sons were Mahlon and Chilion—Ephrathites of Bethlehem, Judah. And they went to the country of Moab and remained there. Leader: Then Elimelech, Naomi’s husband, died; and she was left, and her two sons. Congregation: Now they took wives of the women of Moab: the name of the one was Orpah, and the name of the other Ruth. And they dwelt there about ten years. All: Then both Mahlon and Chilion also died; so the woman survived her two sons and her husband. +Music for Meditation Clean / Natalie Grant

“Simple people can be amazingly powerful when they are members one of another. As everyone knows, it is almost impossible to create a fire with one log, even if it is a sound one, while several poor logs may make an excellent fire if they stay together as they burn.” - Elton Trueblood

(Sundays, 11 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. & Mon. - Wed., 2:00 p.m. - 8:30 p.m.) Pick up a LifeTouch brochure at a Welcome Desk in the Atrium or Foyer for more information and to schedule your appointment as instructed.
