welcome
Welcome to Sligo. Several years ago I viewed an episode of the Oprah show, which I still remember to this day. And yes, I was a fan of the Oprah show. August 12, Saturday This particular episode was dealing with individuals Young Adults GLOW, Memorial Chapel, 9:30 a.m. who were having trouble because of the tremendous amount of debt they had accumulated. All of the August 13, Sunday guests were there because they were told they would be receiving free counseling from a financial advisor who would Exercise Class, Office Chapel, 9:00 a.m. develop a customized plan to help them to eventually become debt August 14, Monday free. Well, unbeknown to her guests, Oprah, because of her generous spirit, had decided to eradicate their debt in full. As you can imagine, Regeneration Ministries, Office Conference Room, 7:30 p.m. each of the three guests were eternally grateful for the generous offer, but there was one in particular whose response was unforgettable. August 16, Wednesday Not only did she weep for joy, she also began to run across the Prayer Gathering, Office Chapel, 7:00 p.m. stage, jumping up and down, and shouting “thank you“ at the top (or by phone: 949.229.4400 Pin:4997774#, 7:35 p.m.) of her voice. All this in response to having a great debt that she was Sanctuary Choir Rehearsal, Choir Room, 8:00 p.m. unable to pay herself paid in her behalf. How do you think you would respond if someone did that for you? But wait, someone already has! - Charles A. Tapp worship schedule

Summary of our Beliefs • The Bible is the inspired word of God and our only rule of faith and practice. (2 Timothy 3:16, 17). • Jesus Christ is the Divine Son of God and our personal Savior from sin by grace through faith. (John 1:1-3; Ephesians 2:8). • Having been saved, followers of Jesus live in obedience to Him by observing the Ten Commandments. (Exodus 20: 1-17; John 14:15). • The Sabbath – the seventh day of the week- established by God at creation and honored by Jesus in His earthly ministry, is to be observed by the followers of Jesus. (Exodus 20:8-11; 1 Peter 2:21). • Jesus is coming back to earth personally and visibly to raise the righteous dead and give His faithful children of all ages immortality in an earth made new. (1 Thessalonians 4:15-17; Revelation 22:12; 21:1-3). • Our love for God is demonstrated primarily by our love for our fellowmen. (1 John 4:20; Matthew 25:34-40).

Leader: Then Peter came to Him and said, “Lord, how often shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? Up to seven times?” Congregation: Jesus said to him, “I do not say to you, up to seven times, but up to seventy times seven. Leader: Therefore the kingdom of heaven is like a certain king who wanted to settle accounts with his servants. Congregation: And when he had begun to settle accounts, one was brought to him who owed him ten thousand talents. Leader: But as he was not able to pay, his master commanded that he be sold, with his wife and children and all that he had, and that payment be made. Congregation: The servant therefore fell down before him, saying, ‘Master, have patience with me, and I will pay you all.’ All: Then the master of that servant was moved with compassion, released him, and forgave him the debt. +Music for Meditation Fear Not / Felipe Paccagnella

Pastor Khabbaz will preach a sermon, titled, The Power Is In The Promise. We’ll look at the miracle of Jesus restoring the paralytic man through the power of His Word. In Mark’s Gospel account, we’ll discover that it’s when we accept what God has done for us, we’ll no longer be surprised by the declaration God makes about us. It’s Pr. Khabbaz’s prayer that this message will strengthen our confidence in knowing that no power can stop what God has promised.
Let us hear from you! To write the pastors a note, make a prayer request, or inquire about becoming a member of Sligo Church, please use a card from the hymnal rack.
