• The Bible is the inspired word of God and our only rule of faith and practice. (2 Timothy 3:16, 17). • Jesus Christ is the Divine Son of God and our personal Savior from sin by grace through faith. (John 1:1-3; Ephesians 2:8). • Having been saved, followers of Jesus live in obedience to Him by observing the Ten Commandments. (Exodus 20: 1-17; John 14:15). • The Sabbath – the seventh day of the week- established by God at creation and honored by Jesus in His earthly ministry, is to be observed by the followers of Jesus. (Exodus 20:8-11; 1 Peter 2:21). • Jesus is coming back to earth personally and visibly to raise the righteous dead and give His faithful children of all ages immortality in an earth made new. (1 Thessalonians 4:15-17; Revelation 22:12; 21:1-3). • Our love for God is demonstrated primarily by our love for our fellowmen. (1 John 4:20; Matthew 25:34-40).

Welcome to Sligo! It has been said that laughter is truly the best medicine, meaning that there are times in our lives when laughter is just what the doctor ordered to cure us of whatever ails us at the moment. Although this may appear on the surface to be merely a catchy sounding idiom, studies have shown that there is a great deal of truth to this claim. Many studies have revealed that one’s ability to laugh can serve as a powerful antidote to things like stress, pain, depression and even conflict. Nothing has been proven to work faster and more reliably to restore a balance between one’s mind and body than that of a good hearty laugh. But have you ever stopped to ask where does laughter come from in the first place? Is it a learned behavior or is the ability to laugh something that we were just born with? And if it is with us from birth, does this mean that laughter is an innate gift from God? Is laughter part of our DNA as a result of having been made in the image of our Creator, and if so, does this mean that God laughs as well?

sabbath devotional
“Laughter is a holy thing. It is as sacred as music and silence and solemnity, maybe more sacred. Laughter is like a prayer, like a bridge over which creatures tiptoe to meet each other. Laughter is like mercy; it heals. When you can laugh at yourself, you are free.” - Ted Loder
