ANNOUNCEMENTS (continued) Sligo Women’s Ministries Book Club will meet on Wednesday, September 10 at 7:00 p.m. in the Discipleship Room to discuss “Equal to the Task – Men & Women in Partnership” by Ruth Haley Burton. Sligo’s Homeless Ministry needs new volunteers! Every second Sabbath of the month we provide lunches to needy brothers and sisters in Washington, D.C. Meet at 2:00 p.m. in the Discipleship Room and return by 5:00 p.m. Contact Shane Kelley at 301.512.0227 for more details. The Women’s Ministries “Knit Night” will resume on Wednesday, September 3 at 7:00 p.m. in the Prayer Room. We extend a very special welcome to our members and guests. Today in our two worship August 24, Sunday services we will look at darkness in a whole new light! Darkness is often portrayed as evil or as Pathfinder Meeting, Office Chapel, 9:00 a.m. the dwelling place of evil. CHILDREN & YOUTH Sligo Adventist School began on Tuesday with a great group of anxious learners. The teachers and staff have dedicated themselves to provide “Angel Care” for God’s heritage as we help them grow “in wisdom and stature and in favor with God and man.” There is room for a few more students in selected grades. While Kelly Ballard has taught for six years, this is her first year teaching at Sligo Adventist School. She teaches Kindergarten and hails from a family of teachers. Kelly’s father teaches at Takoma Academy and her mother teaches at Beltsville Adventist School.

We regret to announce the recent death of 84-year old Elsie Russell. Her husband, Don Russell, Sr., and her four children, Kathy, Jerry, Rick & Don Jr. survive her.
