Welcome to Sligo. It is hard to believe that Homecoming Sabbath has finally arrived. If you have been at Sligo anytime over the past several weeks, August 5, Saturday then you have probably felt inundated by the many Young Adults GLOW, Memorial Chapel, 9:30 a.m. announcements promoting this much-anticipated International Potluck, Takoma Academy Gymnasium, 1:30 p.m. event. It has not been our purpose to overwhelm you, Museum Experience, Youth Room, 3:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. but to simply make you aware so that you would not miss out on what has been planned especially for you. And yes, Church Social, Takoma Academy Gymnasium, 7:45 p.m. there is a great deal of planning that goes into an event like this; August 6, Sunday but it’s all to ensure that things go according to plan. But with all of the planning and preparation that is needed to make homecoming Exercise Class, Office Chapel, 9:00 a.m. a transformational event in the lives of all present, we dare not lose 55+ Brunch/Potluck, Fellowship Hall A, 10:00 a.m. sight that our main objective is to provide an opportunity for someone to reconnect, not just with a fellow Sligonian, but with their Lord and August 7, Monday Savior Jesus Christ as well. Today we are privileged to have as our Church Office is closed today! Homecoming speaker, Dr. Terry Johnson, who as many of you know, once served as pastor for youth and young adults here at Sligo. My Regeneration Ministries, Office Conference Room, 7:30 p.m. prayer is that our hearts will be receptive to what God has placed on his heart for us today.

(John 1:1-3; Ephesians 2:8). • Having been saved, followers of Jesus live in obedience to Him by observing the Ten Commandments. (Exodus 20: 1-17; John 14:15). • The Sabbath – the seventh day of the week- established by God at creation and honored by Jesus in His earthly ministry, is to be observed by the followers of Jesus. (Exodus 20:8-11; 1 Peter 2:21). • Jesus is coming back to earth personally and visibly to raise the righteous dead and give His faithful children of all ages immortality in an earth made new. (1 Thessalonians 4:15-17; Revelation 22:12; 21:1-3). • Our love for God is demonstrated primarily by our love for our fellowmen. (1 John 4:20; Matthew 25:34-40).

She enjoys offering her service by participating in various activites here at Sligo. Terry Lyndon Johnsson has a unique story that has inspired thousands over the years. He served as a Presidential Honor Guard for three U.S. Presidents and his story is nothing short of a miracle, considering he was diagnosed with an extreme case of dyslexia as a young man. His full story can be found in his books For His Honor & Aim High. He went on to earn a doctoral degree from Wesley Theological Seminary in Washington D.C. After years of ministering to Young Adults, Terry was asked to be the Senior Chaplain and Operation Manager of WGTS FM in Washington, D.C. Recently, he joined Adventist Health in Portland, Oregon as Executive Director of Mission Integration. Leroy Perumal is a student at Washington Adventist University (WAU) majoring in business administration. He currently serves on the Young Adult Ministry praise team as a guitarist and enjoys being part of GLOW Groups (the young adult small group ministry). Leroy prayed that he would find a church that would feel like family and believes God answered his prayer when he came to Sligo Church for the first time earlier this year. Kay Rosburg has enjoyed leading the Sligo Book Club for the past 15 years and being a church potluck team leader for the past 30+ years. She finds that volunteering in these and other ministries really help connect her with the church family. Christina Zaiback-Khabbaz is a native of Silver Spring and grew up attending Sligo Church. As a young adult, she served in various ministries at Sligo before moving to Australia after getting married. She considers it a blessing to participate in ministry alongside her husband, Joseph, at Sligo. During their free time, Joseph and Christina enjoy going on hikes, learning about new cuisines, and hosting friends at their home. n e x t w e e k , h e r e a t S l i g o . . . Pastor Tapp continues his series on the Lord’s Prayer, Teach Us to Pray, with Part V titled, Till Debt Do Us Part, where he will focus on what many believe is the acid test of Christianity, forgiveness. It is his hope that we not merely learn more about the discipline of prayer, but about the character of the God to whom we pray. Music will be provided by Caroline Lima.
