We believe the Bible is the inspired word of God and our only rule of faith and practice. As Scripture teaches, we believe God became man in the person of Jesus Christ, saving us from sin by grace through faith. We believe the seventh-day Sabbath was established by God at Creation and honored by Jesus in His earthly ministry as a gift of rest and rejuvenation for all. We celebrate the church as the diverse “new community” forged through the death and resurrection of Jesus, in which all are called, all are gifted, and all are valued. We anticipate Jesus’ personal and visible return to earth to raise the righteous dead, make the earth new, and dwell with His faithful children throughout eternity . We live out our love for Jesus by growing in His likeness and by serving our fellowmen. • • • •

Welcome to Sligo today. Many of us have experienced so many Christmas celebrations over our lifetime that they may seem to blend together. You might reach back and only pull out specifics of a Christmas celebration because of your specific age in that memory or because of something that was terribly wrong or wonderfully beautiful, which makes your memory have weight. Sligo Church always hopes we deliver on the wonderfully beautiful side of your cherished memories and today is no different. It is our intention that you have a wonderful experience this Sabbath before Christmas. We pray that your family is warmed by the love of our church family and staff. We also pray that you are able to expand your family as you get to know many of the lovely people we call our congregation. Merry Christmas, and may the light of God shine on you as we celebrate the birth of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. - Richard Castillo

She is the founder of “Sychar Fundraiser & Encounter,” which in the past four years has collected approximately $20,000 to support the church and Christian education in her native country, Haiti. Francia’s winsome manner and positive attitude make an important contribution to the overall ministry of Sligo Church. William Mack & his wife, Nancy, have worked since 2013 as the Director and Asst. Director of the Adventist Child India (ACI) program based at the Southern Asia Division offices in Hosur, India. Through sponsor support, about 1,700 children are getting educated from K-12th standards in 41 different Adventist boarding schools throughout India. A PRAYER FOR THE NEW YEAR, from The Valley of Vision
Heather Griffin, pianist
Guide me to heaven with my loins girt, my lamp burning, my ear open to thy call, my heart full of love, my soul free. Give me thy grace to sanctify me, thy comforts to cheer, thy wisdom to teach, thy right hand to guide, thy counsel to instruct, thy law to judge, thy presence to stabilize. May thy fear be my awe, thy triumphs my joy. Amen.
Simple Truths for Life: Sligo’s Radio Ministry, can be heard each Sabbath morning from 8:30 - 9:00 a.m. on WGTS 91.9 FM. You can also go to simpletruthsforlife. org/podcast Prayer Requests: Families of these deceased: Chad Drumheller For comfort and healing: Karen Ott-Worrow & Suseela Drumheller Message from Suseela Drumheller: Dear Sligo family, I am deeply touched by the outpouring of love and support I received following the sudden loss of my son, Chad. You have truly helped sustain me through this heart-wrenching time. Please continue to keep my family in your prayers.
Give me a grace that precedes, follows, guides, sustains, sanctifies, aids every hour that I may not be a moment apart from thee, but may rely on thy Spirit to supply every thought, speak in every word, direct every step, prosper every work, build up every mote of faith, and give me a desire to show forth thy praise; testify thy love Advance thy kingdom. I launch my bark on the unknown waters of this year, with thee, O Father, as my harbour, thee, O Son, as my helm, thee, O Holy Spirit, filling my sails.
Let us hear from you! To write the pastors a note, make a prayer request, or inquire about becoming a member of Sligo Church, please use a card from the hymnal rack.
Enoch Thomas
