welcome Welcome to Sligo. I grew up with my cousin, Cecil, who was more of a brother than a cousin. We were good together; we were bad together. We fished together; we played together. In our village we were known as Danny and Cecil. We were great friends, except when it was meal time. As young boys, each of us always watched to see how much food the other was given. If I felt that my cousin was given more food than I was, a tear often would well up in the corner of my eye. If he thought I was given more, he would show his displeasure, violently at times. We were always checking to see if one was treated better than the other by the adults. Well, Abel and Cain seem to have had a similar problem. Once when they presented an offering to God, Abel’s was accepted and Cain’s rejected. Cain saw that as preferential treatment and killed his brother in a fit of rage. When asked by God for his slain brother, Cain exclaimed, “Am I my brother’s keeper?” How did such an evasive question become an all embracing answer - I am my brother’s keeper? Our message today is titled, “My Brother’s Keeper?” - Don McFarlane

what we believe We believe the Bible is the inspired word of God and our only rule of faith and practice. As Scripture teaches, we believe God became man in the person of Jesus Christ, saving us from sin by grace through faith. We believe the seventh-day Sabbath was established by God at Creation and honored by Jesus in His earthly ministry as a gift of rest and rejuvenation for all. We celebrate the church as the diverse “new community” forged through the death and resurrection of Jesus, in which all are called, all are gifted, and all are valued. We anticipate Jesus’ personal and visible return to earth to raise the righteous dead, make the earth new, and dwell with His faithful children throughout eternity. We live out our love for Jesus by growing in His likeness and by serving our fellowmen.
