The Promise of Community, the Exercise Class, Office Chapel, 9:00 a.m. curriculum created by Sligo for Sligo that we are using to guide us in this process, has provided us with great theological and practical February 26, Monday insights on this topic. Although we are primarily using the curriculum in our Adult Sabbath School classes, many of our members have Administrative Board Meeting, Fellowship Hall A, 7:00 p.m. chosen to use it as part of their own personal study plan. One of the Recovery Ministry Meeting, Church Office Chapel, 7:30 p.m. immediate benefits has been that members are taking the initiative February 28, Wednesday of getting to know one another. Being that we are such a large and diverse congregation, this can prove to be a daunting task indeed. Prayer Gathering, Sanctuary, 7:00 p.m. But many have decided that they are up to the task. “We often think of community as simply one more thing we have to follow in the rules of behavior. But community is best understood as the way we are to do all that Christ told us to in the world. Community is more than just the result of the preaching of the gospel; it is itself a declaration and expression of the gospel. It is the demonstration of the good news of freedom in Christ through the evident display of our transformed character and our life together. It is itself part of the good news, for the good news is this: this is what Christ has won for you on the cross - a new life together with the people of God. Once you were alienated from others, but now you have been brought near.”
