Welcome to Sligo today. “And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached into all the world for a witness to all February 25, Saturday nations and then the end shall come.” This well known Young Adults GLOW, Memorial Chapel, 9:30 a.m. verse in Matthew 24:14 is by far one of the most powerful in all of Scripture. One of the questions that usually February 27, Monday comes up whenever this verse is considered is how will Regeneration Ministries, Office Conference Room, 7:30 p.m. this be accomplished? When you contemplate the recent advances in technology, what was once thought to be an impossibility is now viewed March 1, Wednesday as a reality. One of the means that has been used for quite some Prayer Gathering, Sanctuary, 7:00 p.m. time in spreading of the gospel is the medium of radio. Here at Sligo we know this to be a very powerful tool in helping to accomplish our (or by phone: 949.229.4400 Pin:4997774#, 7:35 p.m.) church’s mission. Today we are pleased to have as our speaker, Pastor March 2, Thursday Kumar Dixit, chaplain of WGTS 91.9 FM. WGTS has served our local community, and the world at large, in helping to spread the everlasting Exercise Class, Office Chapel, 6:30 p.m. gospel for many years. We are happy to work with chaplain Dixit and the WGTS family as we help the prophecy in Matthew 24:14 to become March 5, Sunday a reality. 55+ Brunch & Potluck, Fellowship Hall A, 10:00 a.m. - Charles A. The forerunner of FM radio station, WGTS 91.9, started in 1948 as WAFT, a call sign selected by students of Wilifred Atherton Fletcher Tan, who named the station in his honor. Note that “W” is a Federal Communications Commission mark for stations located east of the Mississippi River; stations to the west start with a “K.” In 1957, Dr. Stephen Hiten obtained a ten watt license for WGTS, standing for “Washington’s Gateway to Service”— “Gateway to Service” being CUC’s (Columbia Union College, now Washington Adventist University) motto. WGTS was the first non-commercial station to begin FM broadcast in the greater Washington D.C. area. In February 1959, Sligo church’s main worship service became a regular feature on WGTS’s Sabbath programming. Currently Senior Pastor, Charles Tapp’s sermons can be heard on WGTS’s Simple Truths for Life with Charles Tapp - a weekly program which airs each Saturday at 8:30 am. Sligo Church and WGTS work closely together to bring renowned, contemporary Christian musical artists to Sligo Church for worshipful community concerts (e.g., Aaron Shust, Mikeschair, Lauren Daigle, Selah, CeCe Winans, the Katina’s, Chris Rice, Crystal Lewis and Heritage Singers). Currently WGTS is one of the most listened to Christian stations in the country.

• The Bible is the inspired word of God and our only rule of faith and practice. (2 Timothy 3:16, 17). • Jesus Christ is the Divine Son of God and our personal Savior from sin by grace through faith. (John 1:1-3; Ephesians 2:8). • Having been saved, followers of Jesus live in obedience to Him by observing the Ten Commandments. (Exodus 20: 1-17; John 14:15). • The Sabbath – the seventh day of the week- established by God at creation and honored by Jesus in His earthly ministry, is to be observed by the followers of Jesus. (Exodus 20:8-11; 1 Peter 2:21). • Jesus is coming back to earth personally and visibly to raise the righteous dead and give His faithful children of all ages immortality in an earth made new. (1 Thessalonians 4:15-17; Revelation 22:12; 21:1-3). • Our love for God is demonstrated primarily by our love for our fellowmen. (1 John 4:20; Matthew 25:34-40).
