EQUIP-HD, today: The Potomac Conference is at Sligo today with 14 equipping and training seminars. The program starts at 4:00 in the afternoon and ends at 8:00 p.m. Whether your passion is soul-winning, discipleship, multi-media, mentoring, leadership, worship, family life or something else, there will be at least one seminar that will help you to be more effective in responding to God’s call to service. A Farewell Reception in honor of Pr. Richard Castillo takes place in the Atrium today, immediately following second service. A table will be available for cards and gifts. Pr. Castillo has been invited to serve as the Vice President for Integrated Marketing and Communication at Washington Adventist University. He leaves Sligo following almost four years of dedicated service to Sligo Church. His leadership of the Media department, pioneering work with RESET and the annual Block Party, Graphic Designs, Video inputs, and other important contributions have all played a critical role in the life of Sligo Church. Pr. Castillo will leave with the blessing and appreciation of many, whose lives have been impacted by his ministry. Ministry Opportunity - Sligo Church operates a service by which some senior members within a ten-mile radius of the church are collected by our Senior Members Bus each Sabbath and brought to our worship services. CHURCH BUILDING IMPROVEMENT: Jan. 26 YTD
We believe the Bible is the inspired word of God and our only rule of faith and practice. As Scripture teaches, we believe God became man in the person of Jesus Christ, saving us from sin by grace through faith. We believe the seventh-day Sabbath was established by God at Creation and honored by Jesus in His earthly ministry as a gift of rest and rejuvenation for all. We celebrate the church as the diverse “new community” forged through the death and resurrection of Jesus, in which all are called, all are gifted, and all are valued. We anticipate Jesus’ personal and visible return to earth to raise the righteous dead, make the earth new, and dwell with His faithful children throughout eternity . We live out our love for Jesus by growing in His likeness and by serving our fellowmen.

Welcome to Sligo today. I’m sure that each of us has our own story as to how we came to be a part of the “Adventist” family. Many of you probably grew up in an Adventist family, so this is all you’ve ever known. While for others, there might be a dramatic “Damascus Road” experience that you are able to tell. But then there are those of you, like me, who are here simply because someone invited you to attend an event which an Adventist church was conducting. For me, my first introduction to the Adventist church was during just such an event. It was the church’s Fall Week of Prayer. It was during this nightly revival meeting that I accepted the call to begin a journey with Christ that would forever change the course of my life. This week the students of Washington Adventist University have been leading out in their annual spring meetings called WISE, otherwise known as, Week In Spiritual Emphasis. And as students have been sharing the word of God throughout the week, and again this morning, I am confident that there have already been lives that have taken a different course towards a deeper relationship with the Master. - Charles A. Tapp
