welcome

Welcome to Sligo. Having lived and worked in New York for some 11 years, I guess you could say that I July 8, Saturday became pretty acclimated to many of the things that Young Adults GLOW, Memorial Chapel, 9:30 a.m. are considered staples of what it means to be a New Yorker. For instance, you can’t truly be an authentic July 9, Sunday New Yorker unless you possess a love for pizza. Now when I say pizza, I’m not referring to the product of many popular Exercise Class, Office Chapel, 9:00 a.m. chain restaurants that so many enjoy. Rather, I’m referring to the 55+ Club Brunch/Potluck, Fellowship Hall A, 10:00 a.m. pizza that comes from the mom and pop joints that can be found July 10, Monday on just about every corner of the city. One such place is J&S Pizza, located in the heart of Queens. You have not tasted pizza until you Regeneration Ministries, Office Conference Room, 7:30 p.m. have had a “slice” of J&S. For years my family and I would have a pie (that’s New York for pizza) every Thursday evening as a way to July 12, Wednesday celebrate “family night.” Although it has been almost 25 years since Prayer Gathering, Sanctuary, 7:00 p.m. I have left New York, I still continue to shout the praises of how good (or by phone: 949.229.4400 Pin:4997774#, 7:35 p.m.) this pizza really is. I wonder if that’s what the Psalmist meant when Sanctuary Choir Rehearsal, Choir Room, 8:00 p.m. he said that we should, “Taste and see that theLord is good?” - Charles A. Tapp
