welcome Welcome to Sligo today. When I was a child, one of my favorite television programs was the series called Dragnet. For those of you who may be too young to have heard of it, Dragnet was a radio, television and eventually a motion picture series, enacting the cases of a dedicated Los Angeles police detective, Sergeant Joe Friday, played by actor Jack Webb and his partners. The show takes its name from the police term “dragnet”, which refers to a system of coordinated measures that were used to apprehend criminals or suspects, which might include road barricades and traffic stops, or simply an increased police presence. The term dragnet is derived from a fishing technique where a fishing net is dragged across the sea bottom, or through a promising area of open water. In our final message in our series Keys to the Kingdom, we will take a look at Jesus’ parable that makes reference to a fishing net, which in his own words represents the Kingdom of God. As a matter of fact the net that is referenced in the parable is one that is literally dragged through the sea catching whatever is in its path. - Charles A. Tapp

• The Bible is the inspired word of God and our only rule of faith and practice. (2 Timothy 3:16, 17). • Jesus Christ is the Divine Son of God and our personal Savior from sin by grace through faith. (John 1:1-3; Ephesians 2:8). • Having been saved, followers of Jesus live in obedience to Him by observing the Ten Commandments. (1 Thessalonians 4:15-17; Revelation 22:12; 21:1-3). • Our love for God is demonstrated primarily by our love for our fellowmen. (1 John 4:20; Matthew 25:34-40).

Did you know that... The first student missionary was Marlin Mathiesen, a student from Columbia Union College, who went to a remote area of Mexico for three months in the summer of 1959, assisting the local pastors with medical and evangelistic work. This program was the inspiration of Bill Loveless, who at the time was pastor of Sligo Church, and since then thousands of young people have gone to serve in all parts of the world.
OUR LIFE TOGETHER
sabbath devotional
“It is possible for Christians to live their lives with a high degree of phoniness, hollowness and inauthenticity. The reason is because they have failed to move that truth into their hearts and therefore it has not actually changed who they are and how they live.” - Tim Keller
