We believe the Bible is the inspired word of God and our only rule of faith and practice. As Scripture teaches, we believe God became man in the person of Jesus Christ, saving us from sin by grace through faith. We believe the seventh-day Sabbath was established by God at Creation and honored by Jesus in His earthly ministry as a gift of rest and rejuvenation for all. We celebrate the church as the diverse “new community” forged through the death and resurrection of Jesus, in which all are called, all are gifted, and all are valued. We anticipate Jesus’ personal and visible return to earth to raise the righteous dead, make the earth new, and dwell with His faithful children throughout eternity. We live out our love for Jesus by growing in His likeness and by serving our fellowmen.

Welcome to Sligo today. There was a song that was released in 1988 that took the worldwide musical landscape by storm, despite it being an acapella tune. The song was titled, Don’t Worry, Be Happy, and was composed by singer and songwriter, Bobby McFerrin. What made this particular song so different from what many were accustomed to hearing, besides the fact that it was an acapella tune, was that McFerrin sang all the parts himself. But what allowed this catchy little tune to reach such stratospheric heights in popularity, in addition to its creative musical arrangement, was its life-transforming message. It was a message that simply encouraged us not to give in to our worries, but instead just be happy. This message of positivity resonated with people of all ages and backgrounds. But the real question for us today is why? Could it be that far too many of us spend too much of our valuable time doing just that, worrying? And when you think about it, what is at the root of worry? Today in Part II of our series, God vs. Money, we will look at one of the root causes of worry as well as Jesus’ remedy for it, in a message titled, “The Wolves of Worry.” - Charles A. Tapp
