Join Senior Pastor, Charles Tapp, for Prayer Gathering on Wednesday, March 6 from 7:00 - 8:00 p.m. in the Sligo Sanctuary. For the next several weeks, we will study Laszlo Gallusz’s book: The 7 Prayers of Jesus. This week, we begin Chapter 3, “The Lord’s Prayer.” Bring a friend and experience the powerful blessing of deepening your prayer life. Save the Date: Game, Set, Match! We believe the Bible is the inspired word of God and our only rule of faith and practice. As Scripture teaches, we believe God became man in the person of Jesus Christ, saving us from sin by grace through faith. We believe the seventh-day Sabbath was established by God at Creation and honored by Jesus in His earthly ministry as a gift of rest and rejuvenation for all. We celebrate the church as the diverse “new community” forged through the death and resurrection of Jesus, in which all are called, all are gifted, and all are valued. Welcome to Sligo today. Today’s message may be a difficult one for many of us to handle because it happens to fall into the category of what many would consider one of the most controversial subjects in the church today. Now, before you begin to feel too uncomfortable, allow me to put you at ease by saying that my message today is not about women’s ordination or sexual orientation. Although for some, these may be easier subjects to discuss than our topic today. Just to be clear, today’s topic is one, which Jesus spoke a great deal about. As a matter of fact, 16 out of 38 of his parables deal with this issue. And in the Gospels, 1 out of every 10 verses deals directly with this topic. So what is this controversial subject which Jesus spoke a great deal about, but with which many Christians are uncomfortable at best? Why, it’s money. That’s right, m-o-n-e-y, also known in some circles as the third rail of church topics to discuss. In our message, God vs. Money: A Battle for the Heart, we will discover why such an important topic for Jesus is such a sensitive one for his disciples. - Charles A. Tapp

She went on to study music with an emphasis in vocal performance at Washington Adventist University and finished up her degree at Southern Adventist University. April feels blessed to be able to share her ministry with Sligo. Brenda Flemmer retired three years ago. She volunteers at Adventist Community Services, teaching classes in English and basic computing. Brenda has been a Sligo member for 20 years. Stephen Moungara is a volunteer and student at Adventist Community Services. He has been attending Sligo and GLOW since the 2018 Festival of Praise and finds the Sligo experience life changing. He immigrated a few years ago from Gabon.

Congratulations to Research Agronomist, Dr. Eton Codling, for having been honored at the Living Legends Awards for Service to Humanity on February 23. Dr. Codling’s work aims to reduce nutrient loss and the potential risk of lead and arsenic contamination of human consuming crops. Sligo is proud of you, Doc!
