Welcome to Sligo today. In writing to the believers who were a part of the church at Corinth, the Apostle Paul made a startling statement that I’m sure made many members of the early church stop and take notice. In 1 Corinthians 15:14 he said that if Christ had not been raised from the grave, all of the time and effort that he and others had put into proclaiming the good news of the gospel, as well as sacrifices they made to adhere to their faith, would be an exercise in futility. In other words, Paul was making the point that if the resurrection of Jesus had been merely part of the “fake news” of their day, it would all have been a waste of time. The reality however is that Christ has risen and Sligo Church is proud to join Christians around the globe this weekend as we pause to celebrate our faith in the resurrection of Jesus Christ and what it means for humankind throughout the ages. Not only does the resurrection of Jesus guarantee that we can be victorious, it also means that we can be MORE THAN victorious! - Charles A. Tapp

Summary of our Beliefs • The Bible is the inspired word of God and our only rule of faith and practice. (2 Timothy 3:16, 17). • Jesus Christ is the Divine Son of God and our personal Savior from sin by grace through faith. (John 1:1-3; Ephesians 2:8). • Having been saved, followers of Jesus live in obedience to Him by observing the Ten Commandments. (Exodus 20: 1-17; John 14:15). • The Sabbath – the seventh day of the week- established by God at creation and honored by Jesus in His earthly ministry, is to be observed by the followers of Jesus. (Exodus 20:8-11; 1 Peter 2:21). • Jesus is coming back to earth personally and visibly to raise the righteous dead and give His faithful children of all ages immortality in an earth made new. (1 Thessalonians 4:15-17; Revelation 22:12; 21:1-3). • Our love for God is demonstrated primarily by our love for our fellowmen. (1 John 4:20; Matthew 25:34-40).

OUR LIFE TOGETHER
sabbath devotional
“At the Cross, the way up is down; the way to get, is to serve; the way to wealth is to give; the way to win is to lose.” - Tim Keller
The Church Office will be closed on Monday, April 2. If you have an urgent matter that cannot wait until the office reopens, please call our emergency number 301-980-1009. The next Sligo Fellowship Potluck will be held on April 7. Guests are invited to join us, following the second service in the Fellowship Room. Members who wish to attend are requested to provide a vegetarian entrée, salad or dessert that will serve at least 10-12 people. The Children’s Choir is seeking new members! The choir meets immediately after Sabbath School in the Choir Room until 11:35 a.m. Children ages 3-12 are encouraged to join this ministry, under the direction of Ms. Joya Follette. Sligo Church has had a tradition of periodically having a yearbook done. The last one was done in 2012/2013. In years to come these will prove to be important keepsakes for our present and future members. LifeTouch has undertaken the task of creating a yearbook for us for 2018 and has scheduled the following dates for photographs to be taken: April 8-11/12; April 22-25/26; April 29-May 2/3. Pick up a LifeTouch brochure at a Welcome Desk in the Atrium or Foyer for more information and to schedule your appointment.
