• The Bible is the inspired word of God and our only rule of faith and practice. (2 Timothy 3:16, 17). • Jesus Christ is the Divine Son of God and our personal Savior from sin by grace through faith. (John 1:1-3; Ephesians 2:8). • Having been saved, followers of Jesus live in obedience to Him by observing the Ten Commandments. (Exodus 20: 1-17; John 14:15). • The Sabbath – the seventh day of the week- established by God at creation and honored by Jesus in His earthly ministry, is to be observed by the followers of Jesus. (Exodus 20:8-11; 1 Peter 2:21). • Jesus is coming back to earth personally and visibly to raise the righteous dead and give His faithful children of all ages immortality in an earth made new. (1 Thessalonians 4:15-17; Revelation 22:12; 21:1-3). • Our love for God is demonstrated primarily by our love for our fellowmen. (1 John 4:20; Matthew 25:34-40).

2018 Goal

Welcome to Sligo today. If you were anything like me as a child, then you too were afraid of the dark. There was something about darkness that made everything feel dangerously creepy. Places that I was extremely familiar with by day suddenly became places that I feared in the night. When I heard a noise go thump in the night, it caused me to experience much fear and trepidation, because I thought that there were monsters under my bed. Some children are so afraid of the dark that they can’t sleep at night unless a light is left on for them. And not just children! Many an adult is afraid of the dark as well. Yes, I was afraid of the dark as a child, and still am to some degree as an adult, but the challenge for me then and now is that being in the dark makes it difficult to move about without bumping into things. This is also true in the spiritual world. Today we will examine in our message, Children of the Light, the impact that both light and darkness have on our lives as believers. - Charles A. Tapp

Leader: But concerning the times and the seasons, brethren, you have no need that I should write to you. Congregation: For you yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so comes as a thief in the night. Leader: For when they say, “Peace and safety!” then sudden destruction comes upon them, as labor pains upon a pregnant woman. And they shall not escape. Congregation: But you, brethren, are not in darkness, so that this Day should overtake you as a thief. Leader: You are all sons of light and sons of the day. We are not of the night nor of darkness. Congregation: Therefore let us not sleep, as others do, but let us watch and be sober. All: For those who sleep, sleep at night, and those who get drunk are drunk at night.
