welcome Welcome to Sligo Church. I recently read an article that described the changing landscape of social interactions. The article cites the research done by social psychologist, Sherry Turkle, PhD. on the effects of social media on every day relationships. She found that the proliferation of virtual relationships via social media has curtailed people’s ability to have meaningful relationships in the physical world. While we have the means to be more connected than any other society in history, people are more lonely and disconnected than ever before. We were created to be social creatures who help and aid each other in the journey through life. We were not created to be lonely or isolated. In the Old Testament we see that God worked through a family structure. Then in the New Testament we see that God created a spiritual family that embodied the same relational principles of the physical family: a system of support, love, accountability and growth. The church has the unique opportunity to be a place where people feel at home, feel a sense of belonging, feel loved, and where they know that they are part of a family that goes beyond physical limitations. - Pranitha Fielder
