welcome
Welcome to Sligo today. I don’t know about you, but as I have said on many occasions, Thanksgiving is my all-time favorite holiday, primarily due to the fact November 18, Saturday that in my opinion it is the least commercial of all our Young Adults GLOW, Memorial Chapel, 9:30 a.m. holidays. It is also my favorite holiday because of the Barn Party, Atrium, 7:00 p.m. many positive memories it created for me as a child. One of my favorite memories, in addition to bringing our family together for times of fun, food and football, are the smells November 19, Sunday that emanated from the kitchen, as my mother would create our Exercise Class, Office Chapel, 9:00 a.m. family’s favorite dishes. Those aromas were so powerful that they November 20, Monday have been etched in my mind even until this day. But as engaging and enticing as these aromas were, they merely served as the prelude to Recovery Ministry, Office Conference Room, 7:30 p.m. the actual meal itself. Once we began to partake of the actual meal, November 21, Tuesday the aromas would quickly take a backseat to the flavor of the feast. As we prepare to celebrate Thanksgiving, it would behoove us as Sanctuary Choir Rehearsal, Choir Room, 8:00 p.m. Christians not to lose sight of the flavors that should be associated November 22, Wednesday with people that possess grateful hearts for being the beneficiaries of God’s unconditional love. Leader: But this I say: He who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and he who sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. Congregation: So let each one give as he purposes in his heart, not grudgingly or of necessity; for God loves a cheerful giver. Leader: And God is able to make all grace abound toward you, that you, always having all sufficiency in all things, may have an abundance for every good work. Congregation: As it is written: “He has dispersed abroad, He has given to the poor; His righteousness endures forever.” Leader: Now may He who supplies seed to the sower, and bread for food, supply and multiply the seed you have sown and increase the fruits of your righteousness, All: while you are enriched in everything for all liberality, which causes thanksgiving through us to God.

sabbath devotional
“There are three requisites to the proper enjoyment of earthly blessings: a thankful reflection, on the goodness of the giver; a deep sense of our own unworthiness; and a recollection of the uncertainty of our long possessing them. The first will make us grateful; the second, humble; and the third, moderate.” – Hannah More
