ANNOUNCEMENTS (continued)
welcome
Welcome to Sligo Church. At this time each year as our nation pauses to celebrate the Thanksgiving season, there seems to be a resurgence of giving to those who November 21, Saturday are in desperate need of the things that so many of Young Adults GLOW (God Lighting Our World), us seem to take for granted. As a matter of fact, the organizations that usually provide these goods and Memorial Chapel, 9:30 a.m. services will tell you that the majority of what they Barn Party, Atrium Suite, 7:00 p.m. receive, within a given year, is during the Thanksgiving holiday season. November 22, Sunday It makes one wonder why our giving, in many ways, can be viewed as being somewhat selective in nature; not just when we decide to give, Marilena Dos Santos Funeral, Sligo Sanctuary, 10:00 a.m. but to whom we decide to give. And when I say “selective,” what I mean is that there are times we may choose not to come to the aid November 23, Monday of someone quite honestly, because they don’t fit our idea of who is Regeneration Ministries, Office Conference Room, 7:30 p.m. “acceptable” or “worthy” of our help. But as we shall learn from our Administrative Board Meeting, Fellowship Hall A, 7:00 p.m. message today, “Outcast, but Not Out Loved,” Jesus made it a habit November 25, Wednesday of coming to the aid of those who in many ways were the marginalized of his day, and in most cases needed help the most. Prayer Gathering is cancelled - Charles A. Tapp

Summary of our Beliefs • The Bible is the inspired word of God and our only rule of faith and practice. (2 Timothy 3:16, 17). • Jesus Christ is the Divine Son of God and our personal Savior from sin by grace through faith. (John 1:1-3; Ephesians 2:8). • Having been saved, followers of Jesus live in obedience to Him by observing the Ten Commandments. (Exodus 20: 1-17; John 14:15). • The Sabbath – the seventh day of the week- established by God at creation and honored by Jesus in His earthly ministry, is to be observed by the followers of Jesus. (Exodus 20:8-11; 1 Peter 2:21). • Jesus is coming back to earth personally and visibly to raise the righteous dead and give His faithful children of all ages immortality in an earth made new. (1 Thessalonians 4:15-17; Revelation 22:12; 21:1-3). • Our love for God is demonstrated primarily by our love for our fellowmen. (1 John 4:20; Matthew 25:34-40).

sabbath devotional
One who has been touched by grace will no longer look on those who stray as “those evil people” or “those poor people who need our help.” Nor must we search for signs of “loveworthiness.” Grace teaches us that God loves because of who God is, not because of who we are. - Phillip Yancey
