welcome

Welcome to Sligo today. There are many stories in the Bible that have the power to stir our curiosity and captivate our imagination. And then there are those November 4, Saturday stories that tend to leave one speechless. For me, the Young Adults GLOW, Memorial Chapel, 9:30 a.m. story of Moses and the burning bush happens to be Aaron Shust Concert, Sanctuary, 6:30 p.m. one of them. The story of Moses is miraculous in and of itself, from the time of his birth until he helped to lead God’s people out of Egyptian bondage as they made their way November 5, Sunday into the Land of Promise. Although Moses was not allowed to enter Exercise Class, Office Chapel, 9:00 a.m. Canaan, he did play a pivotal role in helping them making it in. But 55+ Club Brunch/Potluck, Fellowship Hall A, 10:00 a.m. in spite of being refused entrance into the Land of Promise, Moses November 6, Monday was privileged to experience many powerful demonstrations that God was indeed with him. And none is more important than the one that Recovery Ministry, Office Conference Room, 7:30 p.m. accompanied the initial call on his life at the burning bush. Although November 8, Wednesday many critics view it as nothing more than an illusion, this amazing theophany powerfully illustrates that when God calls our names the Prayer Gathering, Sanctuary, 7:00 p.m. response that we give has the potential to dramatically change not Sanctuary Choir Rehearsal, Choir Room, 8:00 p.m. only our lives forever, but others’ as well. - Charles A. This Year:

• The Bible is the inspired word of God and our only rule of faith and practice. (2 Timothy 3:16, 17). • Jesus Christ is the Divine Son of God and our personal Savior from sin by grace through faith. (John 1:1-3; Ephesians 2:8). • Having been saved, followers of Jesus live in obedience to Him by observing the Ten Commandments. (Exodus 20: 1-17; John 14:15). • The Sabbath – the seventh day of the week- established by God at creation and honored by Jesus in His earthly ministry, is to be observed by the followers of Jesus. (Exodus 20:8-11; 1 Peter 2:21). • Jesus is coming back to earth personally and visibly to raise the righteous dead and give His faithful children of all ages immortality in an earth made new. (1 Thessalonians 4:15-17; Revelation 22:12; 21:1-3). • Our love for God is demonstrated primarily by our love for our fellowmen. (1 John 4:20; Matthew 25:34-40).

sabbath devotional

“All other passions build upon or flow from your passion for Jesus. A passion for souls grows out of a passion for Christ. A passion for missions builds upon a passion for Christ. The most crucial danger to a Christian, whatever his role, is to lack a passion of Christ. The most direct route to personal renewal and new effectiveness is a new all-consuming passion for Jesus. Lord, give us this passion, whatever the cost!” – Wesley L. Duewel
