ANNOUNCEMENTS (continued)
welcome
Welcome to Sligo Church. Over the past several weeks I have been sharing messages from a sermon series that I have titled, “Why I…,” in which I have focused November 7, Saturday on why I believe in God, the Bible and of course, Jesus Young Adults GLOW (God Lighting Our World), Christ. You see, I am of the belief that it is not enough Memorial Chapel, 9:30 a.m. for one to hold a particular position or belief without knowing why one holds that position or belief. As a Children’s Choir Rehearsal, Choir Room, 1:15 p.m. child I had a very inquisitive nature and wanted to know the “why” of Crossroads, WAU Student Activity Center, 11:15 a.m. everything. Sometimes my curious nature was applauded, but at other times it was not. Despite the push-back I may have received, in no November 9, Monday way did it deter me from wanting to know the “why” behind just about Regeneration Ministries, Office Conference Room, 7:30 p.m. everything. Today we continue our “Why I” series with the message, November 11, Wednesday “Why I…Believe in Christianity.” I’m sure that many of you have probably grown up in Christian homes and have never really given Prayer Gathering, Sanctuary, 7:00 p.m. serious thought to why you have accepted the Christian faith. But if I (or by phone: 949.229.4400 Pin:4997774#, 7:35 p.m.) am going to dedicate my entire life to something, then I need to know why. Hopefully, today’s message will confirm why you are a Christian November 12, Thursday or encourage you to become one. Exercise Class, Office Chapel, 6:30 p.m. - Charles A. Tapp

Summary of our Beliefs • The Bible is the inspired word of God and our only rule of faith and practice. (2 Timothy 3:16, 17). • Jesus Christ is the Divine Son of God and our personal Savior from sin by grace through faith. (John 1:1-3; Ephesians 2:8). • Having been saved, followers of Jesus live in obedience to Him by observing the Ten Commandments. (Exodus 20: 1-17; John 14:15). • The Sabbath – the seventh day of the week- established by God at creation and honored by Jesus in His earthly ministry, is to be observed by the followers of Jesus. (Exodus 20:8-11; 1 Peter 2:21). • Jesus is coming back to earth personally and visibly to raise the righteous dead and give His faithful children of all ages immortality in an earth made new. (1 Thessalonians 4:15-17; Revelation 22:12; 21:1-3). • Our love for God is demonstrated primarily by our love for our fellowmen. (1 John 4:20; Matthew 25:34-40).

“This is the paradox of Jesus. His claims sound like the raving of a lunatic, but he shows no sign of being a fanatic, a neurotic or, still less, a psychotic. On the contrary, he comes before us in the pages of the Gospels as the most balanced and integrated of human beings.” - John Stottx
