ANNOUNCEMENTS (continued)
welcome
Welcome to Sligo Church. One of my favorite accounts of the life of Jesus is found in the Gospels of Matthew and Mark, where Jesus asked his disciples, “Who October 10, Saturday do you say I am?” Peter responds with, ”You are the Young Adults GLOW (God Lighting Our World), Christ, the Son of the Living God.” If you are familiar Memorial Chapel, 9:30 a.m. with this account, you know that before Jesus posed the question as to who they thought he was, he first Sligo Underground, Youth Room, 11:00 a.m. asked them to share what others were thinking of him. It is only after Crossroads, WAU Student Activity Center, 11:15 a.m. hearing their responses, which ranged from John the Baptist to Children’s Choir Rehearsal, Choir Room, 1:15 p.m. Jeremiah, that Jesus now brings the question home, “But who do you Homeless Ministry, Discipleship Room, 2:00 p.m. say I the Son of Man am?” Without any provocation, Peter gives the response that believers everywhere are still giving these days, “You are Jamie Jorge Concert, Sanctuary, 6:00 p.m. the Christ, the one we’ve been eagerly looking for.” Today we continue our series titled: I Believe…with the message, “I Believe in Jesus.” The October 11, Sunday question that you and I as believers need to come to grips with is not, Who does the world believe Jesus is, but who is Jesus to you and who Sligo Music Club Concert, Atrium, 4:00 p.m. is he to me? - Charles A. Tapp October 12, Monday Regeneration Ministries, Office Conference Room, 7:30 p.m.

Summary of our Beliefs • The Bible is the inspired word of God and our only rule of faith and practice. (2 Timothy 3:16, 17). • Jesus Christ is the Divine Son of God and our personal Savior from sin by grace through faith. (John 1:1-3; Ephesians 2:8). • Having been saved, followers of Jesus live in obedience to Him by observing the Ten Commandments. (Exodus 20: 1-17; John 14:15). • The Sabbath – the seventh day of the week- established by God at creation and honored by Jesus in His earthly ministry, is to be observed by the followers of Jesus. (Exodus 20:8-11; 1 Peter 2:21). • Jesus is coming back to earth personally and visibly to raise the righteous dead and give His faithful children of all ages immortality in an earth made new. (1 Thessalonians 4:15-17; Revelation 22:12; 21:1-3). • Our love for God is demonstrated primarily by our love for our fellowmen. (1 John 4:20; Matthew 25:34-40).

sabbath devotional
“The gospel is absurd and the life of Jesus is meaningless unless we believe that He lived, died, and rose again with but one purpose in mind: to make brand-new creation. Not to make people with better morals but to create a community of prophets and professional lovers, men and women who would surrender to the mystery of the fire of the Spirit that burns within.” - Brenan Manning
