calendar of events
Welcome to Sligo today! It could be said that vision is the most important sense we are given as humans. So much of our environment is learned through watching others October 15, Saturday and mimicking or avoiding mannerisms, behaviors and Young Adults GLOW, Memorial Chapel, 9:30 a.m. actions. Our eyes can be the windows into our souls or the avenue by which we are tempted to sin. The stories October 17, Monday of Jesus healing the blind throughout the Gospels are compelling to us, Regeneration Ministries, Office Conference Room, 7:30 p.m. because for those of us who were born with sight and enjoy it, losing it might be more than devastating. The thought of being given back the October 19, Wednesday gift of sight is not only miraculous, but also incredibly relevant to the Prayer Gathering, Sanctuary, 7:00 p.m. way we view the world. The way Jesus chooses to heal the blind in the (or by phone: 949.229.4400 Pin:4997774#, 7:35 p.m.) Gospels is not predictable; he approaches each soul from a different angle and uses different approaches for their healing. How may God October 20, Thursday heal your blindness today? Exercise Class, Office Chapel, 6:30 p.m. - Richard Castillo
GLOW Worship Service for Young Adults: Takoma Park senior citizens need your help for the winter! “See that your chief study be about your heart, that there God’s image may be planted, and his interest advanced, and the interest of the world and flesh subdued, and the love of every sin cast out, and the love of holiness succeed; and that you content not yourselves with seeming to do good in outward acts, when you are bad yourselves, and strangers to the great internal duties. The first and great work of a Christian is about his heart.” - Richard Baxter

“We scarcely know how much of our pleasure and interest in life comes to us through our eyes until we have to do without them; and part of that pleasure is that the eyes can choose where to look. But the ears can’t choose where to listen.” - Ursula K. Le Guin, Gifts
