Welcome to Sligo today. By now, I’m sure that most of you are aware of the great deal of unrest in many of our communities both locally and internationally. Whether it’s racial tensions in the September 7, Sunday Midwestern city of Ferguson, Missouri or ethnic 55+ Club Brunch Potluck, Fellowship Hall A, 10:00 a.m. and religious persecution in Iraq, the words of Knitting Ministry, Prayer Room, 11:00 a.m. Rodney King still ring true, “Why can’t we all just get along?” Somehow being alongside people of similar September 8, Monday interests living in a particular place would somehow guarantee a Regeneration Ministries, Office Conf. Room, 7:00 p.m. sense of community. But sadly, such is the not the case. Could September 9, Tuesday the reason for this be that what we have are communities that are void of communion? As we pause to celebrate the Lord’s Prayer Gathering, Sanctuary, 7:00 p.m. supper today, we would be remiss if we ignored the believers Or by phone: 949.229.4400 Pin:4997774#, 7:35 p.m. that the apostle Paul admonished regarding this holy meal in 1 Corinthians 11, was a community that was void of communion; September 10, Wednesday a genuine presence of mutual understanding and respect. But Full Plate Living, Fellowship Hall B, 7:00 p.m. what can be said of the church today? Are we a people that despite our coming to partake of Communion are lacking in Sligo Women’s Book Club, Discipleship Room, 7:00 p.m. communion?
