Sligo Cares supports our home-bound members through regular visitations, meals, and friendship. We also seek to reach out to our other members whose presence is missed. CHURCH BUILDING IMPROVEMENT: MISCELLANEOUS
We believe the Bible is the inspired word of God and our only rule of faith and practice. As Scripture teaches, we believe God became man in the person of Jesus Christ, saving us from sin by grace through faith. We believe the seventh-day Sabbath was established by God at Creation and honored by Jesus in His earthly ministry as a gift of rest and rejuvenation for all. We celebrate the church as the diverse “new community” forged through the death and resurrection of Jesus, in which all are called, all are gifted, and all are valued. We anticipate Jesus’ personal and visible return to earth to raise the righteous dead, make the earth new, and dwell with His faithful children throughout eternity . We live out our love for Jesus by growing in His likeness and by serving our fellowmen.

Welcome to Sligo today. Recently while shopping in a local grocery store, I glimpsed a special edition of Time Magazine at the checkout counter, the title of which caught my attention. The Magazine’s title was, The Science of Happiness: New discoveries for a More Joyful Life. As I began perusing the pages, one article in particular caught my eye. The title of the article was, Does Spirituality Make Us Happy? Although I didn’t get a chance to find out what they meant by “spirituality,” I thought to myself, “has science just figured out what God’s word has told us from the very beginning?” From the Old Testament to the New Testament, Scripture is replete with declarations as well as promises that remind us that true and lasting happiness is the byproduct of being in a right relationship with God. Even Jesus in his famous discourse the Sermon on the Mount begins with the Beatitudes, a list of characteristics that we need if our goal is to be blessed or “happy.” In our message today, we shall see how in the book of Revelation, God has placed another set of ways to experience happiness, in our message titled, Blessed Assurance. - Charles A.
