• The Bible is the inspired word of God and our only rule of faith and practice. (2 Timothy 3:16, 17). • Jesus Christ is the Divine Son of God and our personal Savior from sin by grace through faith. (John 1:1-3; Ephesians 2:8). • Having been saved, followers of Jesus live in obedience to Him by observing the Ten Commandments. (Exodus 20: 1-17; John 14:15). • The Sabbath – the seventh day of the week- established by God at creation and honored by Jesus in His earthly ministry, is to be observed by the followers of Jesus. (Exodus 20:8-11; 1 Peter 2:21). • Jesus is coming back to earth personally and visibly to raise the righteous dead and give His faithful children of all ages immortality in an earth made new. (1 Thessalonians 4:15-17; Revelation 22:12; 21:1-3). • Our love for God is demonstrated primarily by our love for our fellowmen. (1 John 4:20; Matthew 25:34-40).

Welcome to Sligo today. It has been said that the most loved and memorized verse in all of Scripture, hands down, is John 3:16 “For God so loved the world…” For many it is the very first verse that they put to memory as a child. This verse is so well known that one need not be a Christian or even believe in the Bible, for that matter to be familiar with it. At many major sporting events, especially those of professional football, you will even see someone in the crowd wearing an afro style rainbow wig who has strategically placed himself behind the goal post so as to be conspicuously visible to the television cameras and, of course, millions of viewers, while he raises a sign which simply reads John 3:16. The man who first initiated this was a gentleman by the name of Rollen Fredrick Stewart and his motivation was simple: to spread the message of God’s love to as many people as he possibly could. But regardless of whether you agree with his methods or not, there’s one thing as believers we cannot dispute: God’s love for this world and the need to share it.

sabbath devotional
“One who has been touched by grace will no longer look on those who stray as “those evil people” or “those poor people who need our help.” Nor must we search for signs of “love worthiness.” Grace teaches us that God loves because of who God is, not because of who we are.” - Phillip Yancey
