A STUDIO AND BEDSITTER FOR AN ARTIST A FOLK PERCUSSIONIST’S STUDIO

Project Summary

Objective of this Design project is to understand the user and design for a specific user, providing architecture that will reflect their character while facilitating the best atmosphere and required space to perform the art form. Each design should consist of the following:

• A studio space custom designed to reflect the specific artist’s style of art, use of art media and personal preferences with specific anthropometric space requirement based on the activity.

• Basic accommodation that would allow for a sleeping/resting space where the artist can stay overnight if required.

• Small pantry and bathroom (maybe even a dining space as required) to provide necessary facilities for the artist when staying over and working for several days at a stretch.

• Any other required areas as determined by the Design brief prepared after discussing with the Artist. Ex: Storage spaces, drying areas, kilns etc. The building will only be allowed a covered floor area of 50 Sq. meters. It will be an independent structure detached from any other buildings in the surrounding – but should in some way be responsive to the surrounding context.
