More Stores Coming Soon! You can actually The History... shop in store Yours Clothing started from humble beginnings. Owner Andrew Killingsworth started selling plus size fashion from a market stall in the early 1990’s. He then noticed there was a gap in the market for plus size fashion on the high street and started opening stores in 1997 as “Size Up.” The brand name was changed to Yours Clothing in 2001 and their e-commerce site was launched in 2008. In 25 years, Yours has established itself as the fastest growing plus size retailer in the UK

They have ambition “We want to be the number one best value plus size menswear and womenswear brand, we want to have 120 stores by 2020. Not only do we want to be the best value plus size retailer in the UK but internationally too. We hope to have more franchise stores internationally and expanded our wholesale partnerships.”

“Yours Clothing started out as a store offering back in the nineties and the web was added in 2008. We want to make our clothing accessible to as many customers as possible and are always looking to open more stores to broaden our reach. We find having a store presence helps increase our awareness and we are happy to serve our customers whichever method they choose to shop with us. We now have 85 stores in the UK. Our customers want to shop in store as well as the internet and we want to give them that choice. We don’t open stores to show other brands what to do, only what our customers want”.

Get to know the brand that is PASSIONATE about getting plus size Who is the Yours on the high street! Customer? “We have 3 customer types - Young Free and Single, - Older Sister and - Forever 40. The Young Free & Single customer is aged between 18-25 & is very fashion conscious & wants to dress like her friends. The Older Sister is big sister to the Young Free & Single customer & tends to be in a relationship, with children; therefore, comfort & value are the most important factors when buying clothes to fit in with her busy lifestyle. The Forever 40 customer is the mother of customers 1 and 2 and shops regularly for wardrobe basics and high quality clothing, she is also our most loyal customer.”

They’ve collaborated with Their USP Tess Holliday & HayleyHasselhoff Yours Clothing offer fashionable plus size clothing up to a size 36 at affordable prices. They also offer plus size maternity wear, something which their competitors aren’t doing, and plus size menswear going from Sizes M to 8XL. “We work with a franchise partner in the Middle East where we have 11 stores currently- 2 in Bahrain, 2 in Saudi Arabia, 1 in Qatar, 5 in UAE including Dubai. We have plans to open a further 10 in 2016 across the Middle East with our franchise partner. We also plan to expand our franchise partners globally too. In addition to franchise stores, we also have 27 active wholesale partners who operate everywhere from Israel to Finland to Australia.”

“We will be working with plus size model and blogger Nadia Aboulhosn on our upcoming Botanical jungle trend and also a range of international plus size bloggers on different campaigns. We feel it is important to work with both models and bloggers; they are a credit to the plus size industry and they are constantly campaigning for body positivity. Never one to shy away from the limelight Beth is no stranger to high fashion having previously strut her stuff on the runway for the likes of Jean Paul Gaultier and Marc Jacobs. There was even a collaboration collection with Evans back in 2012. All this has stood Beth in good stead to launch her very own collection, under her own name, which is stocked exclusively in Selfridges and on www.bethditto.com The collection emulates Beth’s bold style, through colourful geometric prints, forties

silouhettes and vintage denim vibes. We love the lip print looks, which are bold and fun but equally never out of date. The easy to wear jersey pieces are great for layering and all the clever pleat detailing creates a gorgeous silhouette. With wardrobe classics like the embroidered denim jacket, Beth’s collection is joining a legion of new indie, higher end plus size designer offerings and we can’t wait to see what happens next. Breaking Beauty Myths In conversation with... Elizabeth Taylor

She’s an actress/model/designer/body image guru. She is a favourite by countless major plus designers including Melissa McCarthy and Jessica Simpson. She calls Camryn Manheim a BFF and mentor. She is a face of Pinup Girl Clothing and has just released a line of jewellery and dresses under their brand. Despite being born with a name already made very famous, she’s had a long and winding road towards self-love and success. Her name is Elizabeth Taylor and there seems to be no stopping her now. I first met Ms. Taylor several years ago when she was making waves in NYC with her show, ‘Finding Elizabeth Taylor’. She was confident, gregarious and wearing an outrageous red dress my kind of person. In addition to her namesake, her fashion icons are Sophia Loren, Diana Vreeland and Iris Apfel, so as you can imagine, this Liz Taylor never looks anything less than flat-out fierce. At that moment, I would have guessed that she was born with unshakeable selfesteem.

Little did I know that she considers writing the show as a pivotal time in her journey to who she has become. Like many women, she struggled with body image, self-hatred and obsessively trying every fad diet. The California native described a darker time hating her body as a young student

Growing up with this body dysmorphia that so many of us are brainwashed to feel, tragically led Elizabeth to struggle with eating disorders up until adulthood. “It was when I was writing my one woman show around 2005, that I performed for many years after, that things started to change in my mind. As opposed to feeling bad about myself, I started to feel mad at society for making me feel that way when in actuality I was average weight for my height and size”, Elizabeth explains while sipping a passion fruit margarita.

“I was told that if it’s a ‘plus size show’ it has to be about weight loss… They could not conceive of the idea of a woman being fat, happy and fashionable.” The world doesn’t need one more example of plus-size women being bullied into “improving” themselves.

“I read “The Beauty Myth” by Naomi Wolf which was a feminist critique of the diet industry. That was a turning point for me… I didn’t want to be a pawn for them any more.” And that she wasn’t. From that point on Elizabeth took her new lease on life and her passion for fashion and turned it into a career. At one point she even caught the attention of television networks when she was got a development deal for a reality show. Sadly the deal wasn’t something Elizabeth

no matter your size” at NYU. “I did all of the diets… Atkins, calorie counting, Weight Watchers…all of them! Then I thought, Is it worth living like this? Is it worth feeling every day like a such a failure for not getting down to 125 at 5’8?”

shoot and ran straight from the taxi into this fundraiser for their foundation - a very sombre event, and the parents got everyone’s attention and said, “here she is.” So, there Elizabeth was, standing in

The world doesn’t need one more example of plus-size women being bullied into “improving” themselves. We need more role models who show that fashion can be a celebration of your body, no matter your size”. And Elizabeth is happy to fill that role.

If she hadn’t found a way through the darkness, she never would have been around to experience some one of her most empowering moments like in July 2015. “After a shoot for Pinup Girl Clothing, they took me upstairs to show me the first samples of my dress that I designed. It was an out of body experience. I thought, ‘What is better than this?!’” she gushed. Today anyone can buy The Venus Dress and her Legacy Work jewellery collection online.

“I fell into fashion while trying to heal myself,” she said. In the process of healing herself, she has had the opportunity to heal others by letting them know that they are not alone. “Laura Byrnes (Pinup Girl Clothing Founder and Designer) told me, “do a virtual one-woman show. Don’t be afraid if you lose a few followers for being honest. Your people will find you.”

In the near future, Elizabeth will be launching her site, www.LegacyWork.nyc and working on a new, glamorous resort wear line for plus size women inspired by her favourite city, Miami. Elizabeth Taylor is a survivor, in more ways than one. She has picked herself up many times and kept stepping forward towards her dreams.

This inspired her to start using social media to open up about very personal, intense stories of her youth and her struggle with eating disorders. Since then hundreds of young women have sought her out on Instagram to thank her for sharing her painful past, so that they can overcome their difficult present and find a happier future.

a room full of people who are intimately affected by eating disorders and looking to her as an inspirational survivor.

Some plagued by eating disorders sadly never make it to see that happier future. Elizabeth has spoken to many fellow survivors, but last year was the first time she was approached by parents of a 35year old woman who had succumbed to the disease. “I had just left a huge photo

She began to read from a piece she wrote called “10 Things I Couldn’t Do If I Still Had My Eating Disorder.” She also shared some of her wisdom on how she overcame the once-insurmountable pressure to be thin,“The idea that this was not my problem, but society’s problem was my key.”

I hope her undying passion for change and the plus-size fashion revolution will inspire many more women to find the courage to take those first steps towards a new society. In a clear, strong voice she said to me, “The way I see it, of all the industries out there, more change is happening for women faster in fashion - even more so than in Hollywood. And I know it’s my destiny to be where the change is.” www.LegacyWork.nyc @elizabethtaylorplus

ANNA’S KITCHEN Anna Scholz is the owner and designer of fashion label Anna Scholz - annascholz.com - #exclusivelyplussize @annascholz

“Welcome to my fourth ‘healthy eating’ column with SLiNK magazine. Spring is here and for me that signifies Easter, lamb and gorgeous roasted vegetables. This issue I shall share with you the easiest fool proof lamb dish you can imagine. Try, taste and let me know what you think. Love, Anna” @annascholz #annaskitchen

EASY PEASY roasted Lamb Shoulder

Add the chopped red onion and celery stalk to the tray, these will flavour the gravy nicely. Tightly cover the tray with tinfoil and place in the oven. Turn the oven down to 170°C/325°F/gas 3 and cook for 4 hours – it’s done if you can pull the meat apart easily with two forks. Remove the lamb from the oven and place it on a chopping board. Cover it with tinfoil, then a tea towel, and leave it to rest for 10 minutes before serving Drain all the juice from the tray and keep it in a jug as delicious gravy. I like having large groups of friends over for a Sunday lunch so I usually buy 2 lamb shoulders and simply double the other ingredients. You don’t have to fuss with this dish, just leave it in the oven and let it slowly cook. The better the cuts of meat the better the flavours. You can serve the lamb with potatoes of your choice and roasted vegetables.

Ingredients: - 1 large bunch fresh rosemary - 2 kg quality shoulder of lamb - 1 chopped red onion - 2 celery stalks - Olive oil - Sea salt - Freshly ground black pepper - 1 bulb garlic , unpeeled, broken into cloves Preheat your oven to full heat. Slash the fat side of the lamb all. Lay half the sprigs of rosemary and half the garlic cloves on the bottom of a high-sided roasting tray, rub the lamb all over with olive oil and season with salt and pepper. Place it in the tray on top of the rosemary and garlic, and put the rest of the rosemary and garlic on top of the lamb.
