26 February 2012 125TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE MEETING HELD IN COLOMBO WHERE IT WAS RESOLVED TO FORM THE CEYLON BRANCH OF THE BRITISH MEDICAL ASSOCIATION On the 26th of February 1887, Dr. W. R. Kynsey (later Sir William Kynsey) spurred 15 men to meet in the Colonial Medical Library in Maradana Road, Colombo and resolved to establish in Sri Lanka (then Ceylon) a Branch of the British Medical Association, which later became the Sri Lanka Medical Association (SLMA). FCCP delivered a lecture titled “A brief history of the Sri Lanka Medical Association” on Sunday 26 February 2012 at 6.00 p.m. at the Lionel Memorial Auditorium of the Sri Lanka Medical Association at Wijerama House, 6 Wijerama Mawatha, Colombo 7. The meeting was attended by over 150 members of the SLMA. Dr. Dennis and Mrs. Chrissy Aloysius hosted the members to cocktails after the talk.
