SLO BIKE KITCHEN The SLO Bike Kitchen, a program of the SLO County Bicycle Coalition, is a place for the community to come together for the purpose of bicycle education, camaraderie, parts recycling and do-it-yourself work which teaches people to be confident in knowing their bike. The Kitchen is a space full of bicycle tools, parts and knowledge. It is open to the public as a facility where we teach you how to fix your bicycle, this approach allows us to get more people out on bicycles in SLO County! Our version of the Bike Kitchen is intended to serve the curious, the do-it-yourself, and people who like to ride the older bicycles that require a different flair for repair. Run almost entirely by volunteers, the Kitchen has become an integral space for anyone and everyone to learn about bicycles. In 2010, we moved into a centrally located space in downtown San Luis Obispo, allowing us to provide the public with consistent open hours and a hub for bicycle culture in SLO County. The space is clean, filled to the brim with bike culture and knowledge, and has organizational elements that are 100% unique to our space, with most things being repurposed/custom made to reflect the creativity that bike culture encourages. We are starting to offer more education clinics, our projects are growing, and the space is constantly being improved. Come in and see what the Bike Kitchen has been cooking up!
