Unforgettable characters. Extraordinary stories. Since 1947.
A Christmas Story, 2014
The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, 2014
Honoring our 70 year history as San Luis Obispo Little Theatre while building our future as San Luis Obispo Repertory Theatre, a professional, nonprofit, regional theatre. Repertory (re-pə(r)-ˌtȯr-ē) 1. a company that performs different plays in the course of a season 2. a theatre in which such a company performs 3. the production and presentation of plays by a repertory company
Bye Bye Birdie, 2016
The Drowsy Chaperone, 2016
A New Name for Live Theatre This organization was created in the summer of 1947 by a small group of people who wanted to “put on a show.” These 10-15 theatre-lovers, swept up in the last wave of the larger Little Theatre movement across the country, recognized the need for an organized drama troupe in San Luis Obispo. Late in 1947, they decided on the name San Luis Obispo Little Theatre and began rehearsal for their first production – Noel Coward’s Blithe Spirit – which opened at the San Luis Obispo High School Auditorium in early 1948. Since that first show, the San Luis Obispo Little Theatre has produced a full season of plays each year, every year, in 27 different locations around the county. We have had an incredible history as a nonprofit community theatre: 70 years, over 900 plays, hundreds of board members, thousands of volunteers. Now it is time for us to officially become the premier live theatre in San Luis Obispo, and continue the growth we have experienced for the last 5, the last 30, the last 70 years. It is time for us to become the only nonprofit, professional, regional theatre in San Luis Obispo County. Welcome to the San Luis Obispo Repertory Theatre. This natural evolution to a professional theatre accurately reflects our mission and our current place in the local and national arts scene. Nothing enhances and energizes a city like having a successful, professional, nationallyrecognized regional theatre in its downtown core. We look forward to bringing professional live theatre to the Central Coast and to becoming an important part of the national theatre conversation. We are so proud of our history, and thrilled about the future. Thank you, as always, for your support.

Max Bialystock, the onetime king of Broadway producers hungry to strike it rich, and Leo Bloom, an accountant, discover that they could get richer by producing a flop than a hit. They start by finding the worst show, worst director and worst actors. When their new production, Springtime for Hitler, turns out to be a smash success, the result is hilarious, musical chaos!

About Ubu’s Other Shoe Our staged reading series is named after the infamous trilogy of plays written by Alfred Jarry that were banned from the stage after riots erupted on opening night. Ubu’s Other Shoe pays homage to the spirit of Jarry and to all artists who strive to explore the fringes of their art. This exciting series offers actors, directors and audience members an opportunity to experience incredible plays that do not necessarily fit into our regular season.
