Green, active and healthy Slovenia proves with its golf courses that it is truly a five-star destination. Slovenian golf courses are among the most stunning in Europe due to the country’s remarkably diverse landscape. Seek out your favourite golf course surrounded by the summits of Alpine Slovenia, the healing waters of thermal Pannonian Slovenia, the Adriatic Sea and the Karst features of Mediterranean Slovenia or in Central Slovenia with Ljubljana, the capital city. In Slovenia, the only European country where the Alps, the Mediterranean, the Karst and the Pannonian Basin meet, nothing is far away, and you can add to your golf experience by exploring the diverse Slovenian landscape. Golf has been present in Slovenia since 1937, and today you can enjoy a round on 16 golf courses across the country. Many amateur and professional tournaments – and even European championships in various categories – have been hosted by many of these courses. In 2015, the International Association of Golf Tour Operators (IAGTO) declared Slovenia the Undiscovered Golf Destination of the Year 2015. Slovenia is proud to be hosting the prestigious IGTM – the International Golf Travel Market in 2018. Golf is one of the most prestigious sports you can enjoy in Slovenia’s great outdoors. No matter which part of the country your desire for golf takes you to, there are ample opportunities for other outdoor sports and for exploring green Slovenia’s special features. One of them is certainly its cuisine. Golfers interested in cuisine could indulge themselves in the culinary diversity of Slovenia’s 24 gastronomic regions all year round. And try something new every day! Culinary diversity is one of the most important reasons why visitors come to Slovenia and provides additional motives to play golf between the Alps, the Adriatic Sea, the Karst, and the Pannonian Basin.

ROYAL BLED
SLOVENIA’S LEGENDARY GOLF DESTINATION The town golf course in Bled holds a special place among Slovenia’s golf courses, and it also has a respectable reputation in the tri-state area of the Slovenian Alps, the Italian region of Friuli-Venezia Giulia and Austrian Carinthia, which combined offer golf courses with a total of more than 300 holes. Not far from Lake Bled and its island, the most iconic gem of Slovenian tourism, the 18-hole King’s Golf Course and the 9-hole Lake Golf Course cover some 100 hectares. Above the two courses reigns the majestic mountain of Stol, the highest peak of the Karavanke range. Slovenia’s largest golf course is one where golf has been popular since 1937. Golf heaven on Earth!
THE GREATEST GOLF EXPERIENCES Royal Bled has the longest golf tradition in Slovenia. It is also the largest golf course in Slovenia, covering more than 100 hectares. The layout of both golf courses, designed by Donald Harradine, and the serene scenery with majestic mountains and broad Alpine valleys allure golfers from all over the world. According to many golfers, Bled is one
10 GOLF SLOVENIA
of the most stunning golf courses in Europe and boasts old trees and many natural habitats. It is regularly listed in the first half of the top 100 golf courses in Europe according to Golf World magazine and is a club member of The World of Leading Golf and The Leading Golf Courses. An important part of the golf course is its golf academy, with a practice range
that provides excellent conditions to practice and learn to play golf. The range is supported with state-of-the-art technology and a golf club fitting studio.
ROYAL PAMPERING IN NATURE’S FAIRY TALE Bled’s hotels, wellness services and other pampering services have always made it a popular cosmopolitan destination. Golfers can choose to stay in one of the several exquisite lakeside hotels or can also be accommodated at the golf course in the King’s House or in the Lake House. The King’s House was built in 1938 in the original Slovenian architectural style. It has since been renovated. The rooms with private terraces offer views of the golf course, the Karavanke range and the Julian Alps. Just a stroke away is the Lake House, with just as stunning a view of the mountains.

DIVERSE KOZJANSKO TO PRACTICE YOUR PUTTING ACCURACY The landscape by the Sotla River and its forests, vineyards and streams is on the one hand a source of serenity and relaxation, and on the other a real challenge for golfers. The course is not especially difficult due to the relatively short distances, but its bunkers and water hazards make it a great recreational and competitive challenge. Hotel Natura Amon**** and the excellent and ecological Amon restaurant with a great selection of home-produced Amon wines are located right by the course. The Country Saloon Bar, with its “green beach” and putting greens for children, is located right by the hotel. And there is no better place to buy Amon wines and Amon ecological products than Trgovinica pri Babici! The Kozjansko Regional Park and the plains along the Sotla will fascinate you with hidden gems of nature. The park also has the title of a UNESCO biosphere reserve. 30 GOLF SLOVENIA
