12 BEST FOODS FOR PEOPLE WITH ARTHRITIS
Fish: Fish contain omega-3 fatty acids, which help decrease inflammation throughout the body. The best sources of fish that have the highest omega-3 content are salmon, tuna, mackerel, and herring.
Soy: Soy also contains omega-3 fatty acids to help decrease inflammation. Soy is available in soybeans, tofu, and edamame.
Oils: Extra-virgin olive oil is full of heart-healthy fats and oleocanthal, which has been shown to have anti-inflammatory properties. Avocado and safflower oils help lower cholesterol, and walnut oil has a large amount of omega-3s.
Cherries: Cherries contain anti-inflammatory agents and help reduce gout attacks.
Low-Fat Dairy Products: These products contain vitamins A and D for increased bone strength and immune system.
Broccoli: Broccoli contains vitamins K and C as well as calcium and sulforaphane, which help reduce the progression of osteoarthritis symptoms and improve bone health.
Green Tea: Green tea contains anti-inflammatory properties, reduces cartilage destruction, and reduces joint damage.
Citrus Fruits: Citrus fruits like oranges and grapefruits contain vitamin D, which helps prevent inflammatory arthritis and maintain healthy joints.
Whole Grains: Whole grains reduce inflammation associated with heart disease, diabetes, and rheumatoid arthritis. Sources of whole grains include brown rice, whole-grain pasta or bread, and oatmeal.
Beans: Different types of beans such as red beans, kidney beans, and pinto beans contain fiber, folic acid, magnesium, iron, zinc, and protein, which may act to reduce inflammation.
Garlic: Garlic contains a compound that reduces cartilagedamaging enzymes found in human cells.

All Aquatic Balance classes will be run by the Fitness Director, Kim Engen. The Low-Impact Water Aerobics classes will be run by Marky Forrest. Aqua Yoga will be taught by Sandi Tindal. All classes will be 45 minutes to 1 hour, depending on the class.

Pineapple is an essential fruit for your body to feel good and function well. Pineapple benefits the body by aiding digestion, reducing inflammation, reducing symptoms of arthritis, supporting immunity, speeding up recovery, keeping our heart safe, and much more!
Fitness Class Descriptions:
Low-Impact Water Aerobics with Marky Forrest
(T/TH at 10:00 AM and M/W at 6:30 PM)
This class is for men and women at an intermediate to advanced fitness level. Individuals will be taught how to strengthen and tone muscles, improve cardio-respiratory fitness, develop flexibility, and increase range of motion.
Aquatic Balance Class with Kim Engen (M/W at 8:45 AM and 11:30 AM, T/TH at 8:45 AM, and F at 8:15 AM)
This class is for men and women at an intermediate fitness level. You will work on strengthening your legs and core muscles in the pool to improve your balance. Working on your balance and strength will allow you to walk better and help prevent falls.
Aqua Yoga Class with Sandi Tindal (F at 9:15 AM and 10:30 AM)
This class gives you the opportunity to cultivate healthy movement patterns, develop improved balance, and gain greater mobility throughout your whole body. You will discover the delight of moving in partnership with your breath and enjoy connecting with a variety of yoga postures in innovative, creative, and energizing ways. Come learn how to breathe fully and deeply with a powerful diaphragm, a stronger core, and a focused mind, all while reducing your stress levels.
If there is severe weather, we will not have pool classes. The gym will be open but the pool will be closed.
