New Advisory Board Member from Ameren The Center for Supply Chain Management Studies at Saint Louis University is pleased to announce a new Board Member from Ameren, Mr. Mark Brandt, Director, Supply Chain, Ameren. Mr. Brandt leads the Supply Chain organization which provides sourcing, procurement, inventory management, warehousing, logistics, and supplier diversity services for the Ameren companies. Before taking on his current position in April 2012 he managed the Supply Chain Operations Department, was project manager for the source-to-settle end-to-end process improvement initiative, and conducted strategic sourcing events for fleet, facilities, and telecom related categories of spend. Prior to joining the supply chain group in 2004 he spent 20 years in Ameren’s Information Technology group where he was involved in systems design and project management relating to M&A integration efforts, Y2K, and several other corporate system implementations. Mr. Brandt has a Bachelor Degree in Business Management from Maryville University in St. Louis, MO. He is an Executive Board member of the Electric Utility Sustainable Supply Chain Alliance, a board member of the Utility Supply Management Alliance, and is President of the Waterloo, IL Fire Protection District.
The Center Celebrates 2011-2012 Certificate Graduations The Center for Supply Chain Management Studies will award certificates to the 2011-2012 graduates with an Advanced Supply chain Management Certificate and or International Trade Management in Supply Chain Certificate on June 8, 2012 at DuBourg Hall in the Saint Louis University campus. Graduates, their family and friends are invited to participate in this joyous occasion. Advisory Board members, Faculty and Instructors will also participate in this event. A reception will follow the graduation ceremony. 2
CPSC's Mr. Woodard Guest Speaker at Product Safety Program Class Dean Woodard, Director of the Office of Education, Global Outreach, and Small Business Ombudsman was a featured speaker at the launch of Class 4 of the Certificate in Product Safety Management at Saint Louis University on April 17. The class is the largest to date for the 3 year old program. Woodard commented on the importance of education in the goal to make products safer, and that it was critical to have a well-managed supply chain. “You are the lynchpins of safety at your companies,� he told the class. Product safety education at the university level is a global concern, he noted. He also shared that a goal of the CPSC for 2012 is to launch trilateral recalls between Mexico, the United States, and Canada. His remarks covered a wide range of topics related to current programs within the agency.
First Graduates with a Master of Science in Supply Chain Management Degree Five students received Mater of Science in Supply Chain Management degree from Saint Louis University. They are the first graduates from this program which started in 2009. The recipients are: Ms. Karinna Claudia Lozano Alverez Mr. He (Charles) Gao Mr. Michael Jordan Macauley Mr. Chenghou (Joe) Wen Mr. Changlong (Jerry) Yu Congratulations to the above graduates!!! 3
Center Expands the Product Safety Program In response to growing needs for product safety management educational programs, the Center for Supply Chain management Studies at Saint Louis University in cooperation with ADK Information Services, a leading product safety management company in this country, announced expansion of the current program offerings from one to four programs for the 2012 – 2013 academic year. Currently, the Center offers only one program, Product Safety Management Certificate program. Beginning with in the fall 2012, the Center plans to offer Advanced Product Safety Management Program (September 24 ~ 28, 2012). We are expanding the program offerings with additional programs in 2013. The programs include a Product Safety Analysis Certificate workshop (Feb 4 & 5, 2013) and Product Safety Manufacturing Practices Certificate workshop (June 24, 25 and 26, 2013).
